The materials I have selected will powerfully impact the students in my classroom. The components not only strengthen their 4 year old fine motor muscles, but the also provide an opportunity for students to collaborate and TALK to each other. The POWER OF PLAY is instrumental in the learning of Transitional Kindergarten students. The "household" play items will expand our instruction units and give students the opportunity to use vocabulary words introduced during instruction. Students will be able to bond over shared home experiences they re-enact in the center, as well as allow them to understand how other families are different. The Lego selections will give students a good way to build the muscles in their hands used for writing. They will also foster collaboration as students build structures together. Collaboration is an excellent way for students to practice conflict resolution and the self-regulation skills and language we use in class every day.
