Let's Read!
Funded Dec 7, 2023I just want to thank you so much for your wonderful donations. The classroom set of The Children's Homer has been a great addition to my classroom. My students are learning about the journeys we take in life aren't always a straight path and that decisions often have consequences. If you know the tale of Odysseus, then you completely understand his harrowing task of getting home to his beloved family was never any easy journey but with determination, wit and perseverance, he was able to complete it.
This was a great introduction to epic poetry. Although we have read shorter excerpts of epic poetry in its orginal form, this book truly allowed my students to understand the story and not get caught up with trying to figure out the language.
In addition, the books about college for young black men and women have really been a huge hit in my classroom. Many of my juniors have been going through them and discussing them with their peers as well as their families in order to make good choices when applying to universities and colleges next year.
Thank you again for your generous donations!”

Funded Aug 14, 2019The impact on my students was amazing. My school is considered a Title 1 and a low socio-economic area. Helping my students receive materials they needed for their AP Research class so they didn't have to spend a lot of money. The tab dividers were a big help in keeping their sources and information neatly organized.
As for the students reading The Crucible, they were so happy to play the donated games as a review. It was different then a boring, regular review and they had so much fun challenging and competing against one another.
Whenever my students can do something fun and/or not have to spend money the don't necessarily have, it is a great day in the classroom!
Thank you so much for your donations!”

Funded Nov 29, 2017The trip was amazing! The students, as well as the chaperones, had an experience of a life time. We learned all about English and French history. We all took in the rich history and the scenery. The trip to Cantbury was one of the most amazing experiences where we explored the dungeons, the castle as well as the underground trenches built for escape during WWII. France's architecture and the Notre Dame Cathedral was unforgettable.
One of the highlights of our trip was the London Eye. There they were able to get a bird's eye view of the city of London.
When we got back we were able to discuss what we saw, what we liked back and how they all have the travel bug. This was the first trip out of the country for many and now when applying to schools they are looking for a study abroad program and more opportunities to travel. They also had trave journals so they wouldn't forget them.
Thank you again for this opportunity my students had.”
