I have the amazing pleasure to teach a fantastic group of fifth grade students next year. Our inner city school includes a population of: 56% free and reduced lunch and 13% ELL (from around the globe). My individual classroom will include 25 students from all walks of life. Many students are on/above grade level while many others are struggling students who need additional support throughout their day. As we dive into the standards for the upcoming year, some of the most difficult skills my students will encounter is how to overcome failure and persevere when encountering difficult tasks. Our focus for the upcoming year is to push the 21st Century Skills and increase student engagement.
