My classroom seating is in desperate need of a 21st Century makeover. Letting students have the choice to sit, stand, bounce or kneel helps them stay engaged. I would like to be able meet my student needs and give them the best opportunity to focus on their learning. Last school year, I read many blogs/books about the success of flexible seating and decided to make the switch in January with the furniture I had thinking “out of the box” and being creative. My students loved the opportunity to sit in a place that worked best for them to learn and stay engaged as well as being comfortable. This year I would love to start the year off with flexible seating and offer more choices to my students. Flexible seating offers students an opportunity to sit in a place that works best for them to learn. This way students use choice to stay engaged in their learning. This seating choice provides a comfortable alternative to traditional classroom chairs. My goal is to create an environment that invites flexibility and and supports student learning.
