Our classroom is a place where students come not only to learn, but also feel safe and comfortable. We spend much of our day on the floor in both whole group and small group lessons. Having a mobile teaching easel will allow students to be in close proximity as I model writing, math problems, and create anchor charts. It will also allow for more flexibility for movement in the classroom. My students are allowed to choose alternative seating during independent work time which might be a donut seat, wobble cushion, or crate seat. This gives students increased motivation with the opportunity for choice.
With these new seating items, students will be more engaged and motivated to learn. These items will give students increased opportunities for movement, which is so necessary in today's classroom. As we build our classroom community, these items will allow students to be more engaged, motivated learners.
