As a special education teacher in the New York City Department of Education, I have always believed that every child deserves access to the highest quality education, regardless of their disability or their current circumstances. My classroom is quite unique! I work in a children's hospital serving the needs of medically fragile children ages 5 to 14. My students face incredible challenges every day, and they always inspire me by how they persevere and desire to learn and keep up with their school assignments despite their illnesses! Some of my students are able to come to my small classroom, but many others must remain in their rooms to prevent infection. Once an item has been brought into one of these isolation rooms, that item cannot be used with another student! So I am in constant need of high quality materials to brighten the long, lonely days that my children must endure.
