  • Science in Our World

    My students have had opportunities to participate in hands on activities. They have been thrilled by being able to utilize the materials provided by you by funding this project. My students worked collaboratively to build giant puzzles. They have used the microscope to see the tiny cells in onions. Headphones are used almost daily to work on interactive Science tutorials. The colorful paper has been used to create projects. These materials have enhanced the Science learning experience.

In addition, they are making connections to how science is part of their everyday lives. The atmosphere in my classroom is one of engagement and curiosity. The materials provided by this project have helped me create this great environment.

    My students would not usually be exposed to puzzles and opportunities to think beyond their neighborhood. Helping them to understand how science affects them has made them truly want to know more.

  • Technology in the Classroom

    Your donation has been very beneficial for my students. First of all, the fact that strangers donated money to get them computers really made an impact. It made them think about how many people do really care about their learning. It has made them more responsible and focused on learning math skills. They understand that the best way to show their appreciation is to use the technology and take care of the hardware.

    The brand new laptops is what every student wants to use. The batteries last longer than the other laptops that the school purchased. These 5 laptops are being shared among 66 students enrolled in 5th grade at Lenora B. Smith Elementary in Miami, Florida.

My students will surely benefit from being able to sit in brand new desks that can be adjusted to fit their heights. In addition, the current desks are scratched, marked and rusty. I feel that students need to feel comfortable when they are seated so they can focus on learning. Children in this age group are constantly growing, they are usually taller at the end of the school year. These new desks will also be helpful in creating learning groups because of the flexibility of being able to move them from one place to another without fear of them falling apart.
