  • A 3-Pointer For The Victory!

    Funded Jan 8, 2024

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for your support and to share the incredible impact your generosity has had on our basketball team at Osborne Elementary.

Thanks to donors like you, we have been able to provide a nurturing environment where young athletes can learn, grow, and thrive both on and off the court. Your contributions have made it possible for us to acquire basketballs, cones, and equipment bags to help organize coaching sessions, and facilitate league participation for our students.

But beyond the tangible resources, your support has sparked something truly special within our players. It has ignited a passion for the game and instilled a sense of discipline, teamwork, and resilience in our students. Through basketball, they are not only honing their athletic skills but also developing invaluable life skills that will serve them well into the future.

In closing, I want to extend my deepest thanks for your support. Together, we are not just coaching basketball; we are investing in the future of our youth.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Turknett

  • Up, Up, and Away! Guided Math Here We Come!!

    Funded Oct 31, 2019

My students and I are overjoyed. Your amazing generosity will have a substantial impact on the academic future of my students. These tablets will become an essential and academically significant part of our daily routine. Students will have daily access to technology they would normally receive two times a month. Your contribution to our classroom will allow students to see exponential gains in math. The software being uploaded to these tablets allows students to gain access to instruction directly correlated to their individual needs. Thank you so much for this blessing. My students and I are forever grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Turknett

Our school is transitioning to Guided Math. One principle of Guided Math is that students are divided into small groups, no more than 5 students. Each group rotates through different stations. At one station students work directly with the teacher. Due to the small number of students, students receive more individualized instruction. This provides a richer learning environment for the student. The teacher is able to catch and correct student misconceptions immediately. Another station provides students with access to technology. These tablets will allow students to engage with various software applications that are tailored to their academic strengths and deficits. These applications maximize student growth because they provide adaptive learning.
