Full-Time Illustrators
Funded Mar 27, 2018My students and I are very thankful for your donations. My students and I are using the new resources in creating beautiful illustrations. One of the lessons was about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his paintings of sunflowers. In this art project students in first and second grade learned about different type of flowers including sunflowers, roses, tulips, and waterlilies. The students learned how to draw flowers in different sizes. Having these new resources was helpful for my students to draw with a new pencil and outline their work to make the lines bolder. My students know the steps for creating their own illustrations. They use a pencil to draw and a black sharpie to outline their work and make the lines bolder.
My students were really happy to have new pencils and juicy markers. They could use the erasers on their new pencil and create bold lines for their mural illustrations. After using the new resources, the students move on to adding color to their pieces. For the first graders, the task will be to paint their illustration of flowers in the collaborative class mural. The second graders have to create an illustration of a sunflower just like Vincent Van Gogh created a still - life painting of sunflowers. The second graders have to add their own creativity to their illustration by adding details such as a background, or a theme. For example one the students drew a sunflower wearing a hat. The second graders will be coloring their illustrations by blending colors through the layering technique.
In our school and classroom we highly appreciate your interest in our art project. We look forward to creating beautiful and strong art pieces that will have a positive impact in our school community.
Thank you very much for all the support.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Osoria
This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Working Big
Funded Sep 4, 2017It was such a rigorous beginning of the school year in our art room thanks to the paint and markers that we received. Students were motivated to begin the school year with plenty of painting projects ahead. "Working Big" is possible thanks to your interest and support in our goals. The students at PS 126x enjoy working with paint and creating paintings to beautify the school hallways. Thanks to your donation of paint, our students were able to begin big projects right from the beginning of the school year. Just recently, we had a walk for breast cancer awareness and our students were able to create posters and signs for the march thank to your donation of Crayola makers.
The students at PS 126x were very excited to begin the year with big painting projects. The first weeks of the school year, we worked on painting big pumpkins to showcase them in our school hallways. I was very satisfied for being able to teach my students about blending colors and creating secondary and tertiary colors. I was also very happy to have plenty of paint that we could use in big projects. In the month of October, I had the students work on some posters to use for the breast cancer walk. Students were amazed to see that we got new markers and I could see their happiness when I opened the classroom pack of Crayola markers. My students love markers. At the moment, my students are working on sculptures to showcase in the school. The sculptures are going to be inspired by the current artist Yayoi Kusama. Students are looking forward to finish painting their colorful sculptures and show them to the rest of the school.
This donation has been a true gift for our students at PS 126x. Having enough paint to create big projects for our schools has always been one of our goals and thanks to your donations we have accomplished that this school year. As the art teacher at my school, I felt beyond grateful and blessed to have encountered such generous donors who support the arts. My mindset changed completely and I felt more confident of creating lessons that involve my students in painting and creating big projects for our schools. Now I walk down the hallways and I feel proud admiring my students' work and enjoying the great outcome of your donations.
This donation gave our school a great and productive school year.
Thank you very much.”
