  • Makers Make It Happen!

    Funded Apr 25, 2019

Thank you for the additional supplies to use in our classroom Makerspace! With these supplies we have been able to create 3D printed objects such as key chains, ornaments, and even a model of our school! My students are curious and eager to pursue their passions and interests. These additional tools and supplies have empowered my students to learn more about the things that interest them. Our Makerspace supplies also provide additional opportunities for my students to demonstrate, display, and apply the skills they have learned.

I look forward to all of the amazing things they will do this year!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dixon

  • 3D Printing in 4th Grade

    Funded Sep 26, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to our class and helping us bring a 3D printer to our classroom. My students love watching the 3D printer in action, but what they love the most is that they are able to create anything imaginable and bring it to life right before their eyes! We are planning to use the 3D printer for future science projects, math lessons, and STEM challenges. This is helping my students become problem solvers, think critically, and collaborate with their peers. We are currently working on creating holiday ornaments and key chains with our 3D printer! Thank you again for your help in bringing excitement and new technology to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dixon

  • Teaching with Passion, Power, and Rigor!

    Funded May 18, 2018

Thank you for your generous donation that helped me go to the Get Your Teach On Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. I was able to collaborate and learn with teachers from many different states. The highlight of the conference was learning new ways to engage my students through STEM projects, games, and new teaching techniques. My students have loved the new things we have tried since I attended the conference. When I asked them what some of their favorite new things were, they said the games and call and responses! Thank you for helping me make our classroom a fun, enjoyable, and exciting place to learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dixon

  • Making It Happen with The Ron Clark Academy!

    Funded Oct 24, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to my project and allowing me to attend the two day educator training at The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. I was inspired by the master educators and the students. The rigor, engagement, and passion was unbelievable.

Since the training I have implemented music and movement to keep my students engaged. We have started call and responses as attention getter's. I have transformed my room into a football field for a lesson that went along with fractions and the Superbowl. I have also transformed my room into a carnival as a big review before our quarterly testing. My students love everything that I have implemented since attending the academy. I will continue trying new things this year and for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dixon

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 3 other donors.
A Flash Forge 3D Printer would help my students learn how to become creative problem solvers. We are focusing on building a Maker Space in our classroom to promote collaboration, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. A Flash Forge 3D printer would help my students practice having a growth mindset while facing real world challenges in our classroom. With a 3D printer we would be able to integrate multiple math and science standards through hands on projects. For example, students would be able to use what they learn about measurement and plants to create and 3D print plants and plant parts. The possibilities are truly endless with 3D printing!
