Hands-On Math for Ms. Kingsmill's Kinder Friends
Funded Jun 29, 2023The end of our first quarter is coming to a close, and I am so thrilled with the new math station cubbies. We are using the cubbies to organize our math stations so that students can quickly and easily access them during our independent math practice time. When they first saw the cubbies, my students were so excited to get started with math stations. They can't wait to try new math stations and continue using the cubbies all year long.
The cubby is located in our classroom under the "math teams" bulletin board where students pictures are posted in their leveled groups. Each group has a name; Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. The names are associated with the picture that is affixed to the sturdy clear bins that hold the items students need to use the math station. Students can clearly see the team mascot on the label and they know that the station inside is just right for them. Once they finish with their math station, the well-made bins make clean-up time quick and easy. We do not lose a fraction of the instructional time that we once did with our old organizers. They are working exactly as intended and we are so happy!
Students look forward to using our math stations each day, and no one dreads clean-up time. When it's time to change the activities in the bins, they are so easy to clean and restock. Students actually WANT to help me keep them neat and organized.
We can't thank you enough for your generous donations which made this dream come true!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kingsmill

Funded Jul 7, 2017The impact of the Chromebooks made possible by your donations was felt the moment I opened the first box with my morning class. It felt like Christmas morning. I explained that these tools would help us be more environmentally responsible and help us become better readers and writers. Most students in my classes have limited access to technology- and those who do, had no idea that computers could be such helpful learning tools.
My students love the fact that the Chromebooks are so lightweight and can be taken to a "good fit" spot where they can be most comfortable and successful. This freedom of choice makes them a highly sought after option during our Daily 5 "Listen to Reading" time.
There is a group of about 8 students who comes to my class each morning to use the computers. They are so excited to get to school early and make the most of their technology time. It warms my heart to know that they are so enthusiastic about their education and the technology that helps makes it possible.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kingsmill
