Building Brain Power
Funded Mar 31, 2019I can't thank you enough for donating to this project. I couldn't have imagined how much my students would enjoying building and designing projects using the materials in this project. They were so motivated to complete their work when building was an option for those who finished early. These kits were also a LIFE SAVER during the spring when it rained and rained, and we couldn't go outside for recess. Before we had these items, students were naturally drawn to electronic devices, but these new "toys" brought new life to the classroom. Thanks a million!!!”

There's a Picture Book for That
Funded May 20, 2019How do you get kids excited about reading on the VERY last day of school? Amazon boxes! My students were so happy to receive new picture books because it's always their favorite part of the day! We only read a few of the books, but on the last day of school, who knew my students would choose to listen to a book when they had their devices close by?!?! Thank you so much for donating to this project. Even though this year's students didn't read all the books, they will be used for reading lessons for years to come. In my new role as Reading Coach for TWO schools, the books from this project will reach numerous students across various grade levels. Your donation will impact hundreds of students in Pell City. Thanks a million!”

The Gift of Books
Funded Jan 2, 2019Thank you so much for donating to my project. My students are always very excited to experience a new picture book. We can use these books for reading lessons, character education, or simply for enjoyment. My students respond well to picture books and connect to the experiences that the characters face. I wrapped all the books in wrapping paper, and we open a "gift" each day in order to experience a new picture book. Thank you for allowing my students to experience the gift of reading! They have loved all of the books we have read so far!”

A Golden Ticket
Funded Aug 3, 2018Thank you so much for donating to this project! It was more amazing than I could have imagined to visit this innovative school. Mr. Ron Clark has established an incredible school environment where teachers balance strict discipline with fun, engaging activities for students. The highlight of my day at RCA was meeting these incredible students who had the best attitude about school along with impeccable manners. They have been taught these important "soft skills" from their teachers from Day 1 of their experience in this school. Immediately upon arriving back in my classroom, I began to hold my students more accountable for their manners and their enthusiasm for school. These might not be skills that are on our standards, but they set the tone for a great day at school. There are many many more ideas that I will implement in my classroom as a result of this experience, and I thank you all for bringing these special experiences to my students as a result of your generous donation.”

Let Me Bounce An Idea To You
Funded Apr 23, 2018Thank you so much for donating towards our new Q-Ball sound system for our class. My student love our new tech toy! They are so excited to participate in classroom discussions when we are able to "toss" the conversation from student to student.
Recently we have been using the Q-Ball during Number Talks. Students are mentally solving 2 digit multiplication problems, and they share their strategies. For example, when saving 24 times 4, one student shared that he knew that 25 times 4 is 100 because there are 4 quarters in a dollar. He knew that he needed to take away one 4, so his a answer was 96.
We also use the Q-Ball to discuss books we are reading. One day we discussed character traits for different characters in the book Wonder. Students were so excited to share their thoughts with the new sound system.
Thanks so much for your generous donation. My students and I are very appreciative of the sacrifice you made so that our classroom could be more fun.”

Reading on the Wild Side
Funded Apr 5, 2018Thank you so much for our copies of The Wild Robot. My students were so excited to see the box of books, and they were thrilled to reach in the box and hold their very own copy of the book! I had been reading aloud this book to my students for about a week, so they were already in love with the story and especially Roz and her gosling, Brightbill.
My students love reading chapter books. When we read a good chapter book, we enjoy the story, but we also share our thinking about what is happening in the story. Students have ideas about what will happen next or they have connections to the story that they connect.
I believe all of my students are enjoying this book because it is unlike any book we have read this year. Their imaginations are being stretched when imagining how a robot survives compared to how humans survive.
Thanks again for your generous donation. My students and I will cherish these books!”

Growing Great Goals
Funded Mar 17, 2018We LOVE our new books that you all helped to fund for our classroom! Each time we read a new book, we find new ways to grow and set goals. In fact, we were so excited when reading one book, my students told me they had never seen me smile so much! They knew I was smiling because they were having such good discussion about setting and reaching goals. So far our favorite books are The Bad Seed, Going Places, and The Dot. We have enjoyed meeting new characters and learning new ways to persevere.
Thanks so much to all of you. Your donations have not only impacted classroom instruction, they have also impacted children's lives.”

Mice, Mice Mice!
Funded Sep 30, 2017Thank you so much for donating to our project, Mice, Mice, Mice! My students have been so happy to use their new mice to use their Chrome Books in class. We use our Chrome Books all day long to complete assignments, take tests, and participate in software that enhances learning in the classroom.
My students are most excited that they don't have to use the mouse pad on the Chrome Book any more! They have a hard time navigating the mouse pad. They are also excited to keep their own mouse in their cubby. They are happy to be responsible for their own technology!
Thanks again for your donation. My students are so excited to have new equipment in our classroom!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wyatt
