Google cardboard headsets and an iPod touch will give my students the opportunity to travel outside of our classroom and fully experience places they may never see in person. In fifth grade we learn about people and places from all over the world. In order to make these places more real to students, I plan to integrate virtual reality into our social studies and reading units as we learn about the far corners of the world. Virtual reality takes what was once a picture on a screen and turns it into a 360 degree experience. With this technology, students will be able to view, travel, and "visit" places that they couldn't before. Students will not only have the opportunity to learn more about the world, but they will be more engaged in what they are learning!
