  • Calming Corner

  • Dramatic Play Space!

    Thank you so much for the dramatic play space materials. When the boxes were delivered my students were so excited to find out what was inside. I set up the market place in a corner of our classroom after the students went home for the day. When they returned the next day they were amazed and couldn't wait till stations to play in the market.

    The market place has allowed my students to practice their math skills by making purchases in the market of food and paying with the play money. They also are practicing their social skills by taking turns being the different roles: cashier, shopper or smoothie maker. They are practicing their writing skills by taking pretend phone orders. They were enjoying the market so much but wondered what to do with the items after shopping. So we created a home space next to the market for them to take the items home to sort them.

    The market place has been such a valuable addition to our classroom. We truly appreciate your donations to make this possible for us. Our next goal is to add a sensory table and supplies to our classroom.”

Many of my students have never set foot in a classroom before and have no idea how to sit at a desk for a period of time to complete a project or assignment. Due to their social-emotional maturity, many are unable to sit in a chair for a length of time to complete a task. With flexible seating, I will be able to provide choices for my students to pick what works best for them to be successful. Whether it is a cushion on the floor, bean bag, wobble chair or standing, it will be their decision on what will help them to be a successful student. Young students are naturally wiggly and having wobble chairs in my classroom, will allow my students to get those wiggles out while they are still being productive students. I am also asking for floor cushions because some of my students prefer the ability to change positions while they work. For example, a student may start at the lowered table by kneeling on a cushion, then change position by sitting on their bottom on the cushion without interrupting their work. Having wobble chairs and cushions in my classroom will give my students seating choices that work best for them to complete their work. Your donation will help me to provide additional seating choices for my students that will enable them to be the best they can be!
