As fifth graders, this is their last year in elementary school before heading off to middle school. Many of them have been learning right next to each other for the past 6 years and have learned to accept each other for who they really are. As they leave my classroom at the end of the year and embark on a new adventure, they will have the opportunity to learn, grow and accept people they have never met before for who they are. This book will be a reminder of the importance behind acceptance and standing up for people that no longer have a voice. With Ghost Boys, my students can affect not only the classroom, but their community in positive ways. It will empower my students to be the change this world needs. By helping to fund this project you will be helping my students grow into community members that will advocate for the needs of others, stand up for people in need, and to accept and embrace what makes us who we are no matter our skin color, the neighborhood we came from, or the country we came from.
