  • Brrr! Books For Our Arctic Animal Research Writing Project!

    Funded Mar 29, 2023

Thank you so much for funding these non-fiction books! My students will be using these to research all things arctic and then write their researcgh reports about their chosen arctic animal. Having books at their reading level is so important! I hope to help them become more independent in their ability to research. These books are the key. These students often go without, but in our classroom the world is open to them through reading and writing. I can't wait to share your generosity with my current students who just completed the project and then with every new class for years to come!! I can picture the excitement on all their faces! Thank you again!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edmiston

  • We Need to Move While We Read!

    Funded May 21, 2019

Your donation helped fund my classroom project for 4 new wobble chairs for my first graders. My students have been able to move while learning new reading strategies. Our classroom library is the heart of our classroom but the guided reading table, with the wobbles chairs, has become the spine that allows learning to move and grow. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. It's donors like you that make this very difficult, yet rewarding job possible! Thank you for investing in our students!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edmiston

  • Strengthening Our Reading Skills in a Multicultural Environment

    Funded Jun 6, 2017

The day I received notification that my project was funded I felt as though someone had finally given me an enormous hug! The impact your donation has made to my class, and my future classes, is one that will never be forgotten or taken for granted. The ESL learning materials I have been able to share with the entire school. The big book holder has been an absolute necessity and the heart of my circle time. Not only does this piece hold our read aloud for the day, it also serves as one of our literacy centers called "Magnetic Letters," where students practice making words using the Phonics skill of the week. I could have never afforded such a critical piece for the classroom. The classroom labels and multicultural books make our classroom welcoming, inclusive, and a place where everyone is accepted and tolerance is the norm. Thank you for helping me make a difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edmiston
