Alternative seating choices will encourage my students to choose a spot for the duration of learning time making lessons more desirable, engaging and efficient. Additionally, these seating choices will help create a more active and collaborative learning environment. Studies have shown that students who engage their body are better able to engage their minds! 2nd grade is a "big" year for learning. This is the year they develop fluency and autonomacy in both reading and in math. Their comfort level and ability to collaborate constructively plays a vital role to their learning capacity; flexible seating will allow me to help meet these very individual needs throughout the school year.
