I am requesting a projector because our students have unique and creative minds and what better way to engage and motivate our students through BIG SCREEN interactive learning. The bright, big screen will increase students chance of grasping concepts and learning the lesson because it is fun and a different way of teaching diverse learners. Students will watch kid specific cooking shows that will be shown from the projector onto the wall in our Culinary Arts classroom. Shows such as Man vs. Food, Diner, Drives, Dives, No reservations and Gordon Ransey kids cooking show. After reviewing shows, students will be appointed as TOP CHEFS and will be responsible for directing activities to other kitchen workers with recipe instruction, food prep and cooking. The shows will also expose students on how to run a restaurant and operating kitchen equipment properly. The projector will enhance our already up and running cafe through our CTE program. Students will be exposed to a variety of meals from diverse cultures which can lead to an extension for further learning in Global History and ELA. The biggest impact our students will have is that they will continuously develop their ADL skills (Activities of Daily Living) which can transfer to their home life. Following instructions, active listening, prepping food (chopping, peeling, etc), using a stove, putting on latex gloves/hair nets, being a leader and most of all completing a full meal with supports and sharing their accomplishments with other students and staff through orders from our cafe. The rewards for a great cook is a clean plate!!!
