I am a strong believer that creating a comfortable learning environment that incorporates student choice is essential! Due to this, I want to create a flexible seating classroom, where students can choose where they sit or stand to complete their assignments. This model fosters a student center classroom where ownership will increase based on where students sit, and how they feel in their environment. Students will have choices whether to work in isolation and independently, work at tables with a group of students, work in a chair that allows them to wiggle around or work seated in a standard seat. Allowing for this, we open the doors to communication, collaboration and problem solving while allowing them to burn excess energy and accommodate different learning styles. I know having this model and allowing students opportunities to identify what best fits their needs day to day will making school and learning more fun and engaging!
