Reading Library
Funded Dec 12, 2019Thank you for your donations to help provide levelized books for the kids to begin reading with and the pencil pouches that have helped us keep our supplies in one place when coming to whole group carpet lessons. The levelized books have made it possible for me to hand out more of the same level to my students so I can get more students in a leveled book and moving forward in their reading level. The pencil pouches have made transition to the carpet with supplies so much easier. We keep a dry erase marker, highlighter, eraser, pencil and any other tool I think they will need when working on the carpet in their pouch. All I have to say is grab your pouch on the way to the carpet and they take care of the rest. Thank you from myself and my students! Yall Rock!!!”

Sensational Seating
Funded May 31, 2017My students LOVE our new seats. It has given them more of a variety to choose from for seating during their work time. Before putting the seats at the table, we had to go over the rules for these seats. We talked about how to use them, how not to use them, and our number 1 rule for the seats. I want my kids to have the responsibility of making good choices and choosing their seat for a lesson gives them the opportunity to do that. Our number 1 rule for flexible seating is choose a seat where you are comfortable to learn. This took some practice and time for the kids to figure out which seat worked best for them. The kids also know that if they do not make a good seat choice and it causes disruptive behavior, I have the ability to move them to a different seat. I had many students try out a seat and tell me "Mrs. Norman, I don't think I feel comfortable in this seat" and they moved to another seat. It is amazing to see how much the students grow when you give them the responsibility of choice. My future steps for the classroom is to add more different types of seats for the kids to explore. I feel that flexible seating has given those kids that need to move a way to learn and be comfortable at the same time. I see very bright futures for these kids and this donation has helped them in so many ways!”
