By providing them with materials that entice their senses, these activities will stimulate the minds of all students - including those that may require special needs.
With a strong base in science and critical thinking, my goal is to help these students have their learning come alive through hands-on manipulatives and trial-and-error experiments!
How each resource will be used:
The "LED Activity Tablet" is a tabletop/mini light table, which can provide them with opportunities to explore the concepts of light and shadows, color mixing, shape exploration, x-ray visuals, and engineering. Once donated, they will be able to use the "Light Cube Accessory Kit" along with their see-through building materials that area already in the classroom. My hope is to also add resources in the future for letter, number, name, and word writing to be used with this resource as well.
Other resources such as magnifiers, the microscope (with 20 provided slides), "Jumbo Specimen Viewers," and the "See-Inside Bucket Balance" scale will all help encourage these young children to explore the world around them. These items will be used to peak their scientific curiosity of the Earth's plants, animals, and minerals.
"Wacky Water Droppers" will be used with our water table and liquid paints to explore beginning concepts of gravity, motion, color mixing, as well as to develop prediction skills.
The "Maze-O" (marble maze) and "Force & Motion" (pendulum and ramp) STEM sets will provide opportunities to explore "how things go" as they conduct investigations, solve problems, predict outcomes, and explore early engineering concepts.
