  • The Freedom Circle Project

    Funded Aug 13, 2022

Please let me take this time to thank you for your generosity. Our children are learning that they have the control and the ability to make good and healthy choices, even in the midst of challenging circumstances. Our first lessons are focused on changing the wrong thoughts in our heads and proclaiming good thoughts and words over our lives and loved ones. This pictured lesson is a remote control. A symbol of how we can control out outcomes. Our next lesson is a vision/affirmation board using mirrors, pictures and stickers. Once again, thank you immensely for your generosity and care.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dunn-Williams

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

You cannot imagine how grateful our students and staff are to have achieved this goal and can start this journey of transformation. We could not have done it without you and your generosity.

I am looking forward to the hope and change this school year will bring to staff and students.”

  • When I Teach, I Learn

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

This new technology in our classroom brings a new motivation to the lesson on behalf of the students. They are constantly thinking on how they can communicate what they have learned to the grades under them. By thinking about how well they understand a lesson takes them to a whole new level of motivation, especially when they know they must understand at a level to teach.

They are beginning to think like I do! That's the best part. They want to do their best and understand more so that they can be the stars on a stage that they may have been very apprehensive about before.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING US A NEW WAY TO LOOK AT LEARNING."”

  • Good Clean Learning Fun!

    Funded Sep 30, 2017

This season is promising to be a brutal one for Michiganders already. Those who are hit hard are the very old and the very young. All too often our children come to us sometimes needing the proper nourishment and clothing. Our heart breaks when we can't afford to provide the basics for ALL the children we meet. Thanks to your generosity we are closer to doing what we can for them on a daily basis.

We are now able to wash the clothes that come to us from donors as well as the soiled ones from our students. They no longer have to be apprehensive about being in class next to their peers with below par uniforms. The best part about it, they are participating in this activity themselves. You would not believe the learning and collaboration that takes place over a washing machine!

You should have seen our students' faces when they began to sort the soiled items in the hamper and put them in the washer. They were amazed that caring people, such as yourself would come to their aid and donate to this "big ticket" item.

Thank you so much for helping us maintain the clothes here at the school. Some children may not need new items, but they surely need the ones they have maintained.

from a heart truly washed in love”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dunn-Williams

Note-taking is very critical skill during the middle school years. Students with learning disabilities will use this technology to succeed in the classroom by accommodating their study and note-taking skills. The Livescribe pen with the tablet will not only help record classroom lecture notes, but it will rewrite and save to a word document. Then the word document can be replayed until the student masters the content. This equipment will be used primarily during their core classes. With the implementation of this technology, many of my students who struggle with note-taking and study skills exacerbated by short term memory and processing skill deficits will be able to keep up with their peers in their general education class. This is a much needed accommodation tool. It gives them a level playing field as well as self-confidence in school.
