  • Calming Kit for My Students

    Funded May 24, 2022

I can't thank you enough for your generosity! I am extremely grateful, and my students are going to be very excited about this addition to our classroom. This center will be used for students who may come in the classroom and have had a rough morning at home, may have a conflict during the school day, or just need a moment to step away from school work. Children often feel "stuck in a box" when they are faced with conflict and they respond with negative behavior. By having a safe place to go within the classroom, they will be able to funnel that negative energy into a place of calm and hopefully get past the conflict. Thank you for making this possible!!”

  • Popping Through Math Class

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

You would not believe the excitement and cheers in my classroom when I opened our package full of pop-its. They were jumping up and down and couldn't contain their screams. Then when I told them we were going to use them for Math, they could not believe it. The use of pop its with 100 bubbles has endless possibilities in math class! So far we have used them as interactive and fun hundreds chart with 10 rows of 10!

We have used them to create multiplication arrays, skip count, find and create patterns, and solve multiplication problems. I teach 3rd and 4th grade math. A huge focus and goal for students in 3rd grade is to master their multiplication facts. This is a skill that will help them for the rest of their life. Multiplication fluency will allow students to become more confident! These pop have been a game changer!! Students were instantly engaged and so excited to utilize pop its to solve math problems!”

  • Let’s Go Shopping!

    Funded Aug 16, 2021

Using the materials from this project, students were able to explore economic decision-making through hands-on learning with the use of the Saving & Spending Financial Literacy Kit from Lakeshore Learning. This cross-curricular opportunity infused mathematics and social studies and introduced young students to the basics of personal finance. The lesson was for students to understand and make economic decisions, given a budget, in a classroom store by purchasing items. Students identified the opportunity cost of their economic choice. Students experienced and got a grasp of budgeting and cost-benefit analyses aspects of personal finance for grades 3-5 first-hand.”

  • Let’s Count Money!

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

The students were so excited to see our new materials. Many of my 3rd grade students have not been in an actual school setting in a year and a half. Many of them have fallen behind and are still on a 1st grade level. The make 20 and make 10 games have been really beneficial in helping them grasp the understanding of what makes 10 and 20. This allowed them to be successful with our financial literacy lesson. They were instantly able to make change with dimes and nickels. These materials will continue to benefit students for years to come. Thank you so much!”

I want to create a welcoming and positive classroom environment for my students by offering flexible seating. In our classroom we learn by collaborating and working together. With traditional desk and chairs, I notice that students are not eager to open up and be themselves. My goal is to create a learning environment that breaks down that barrier. Flexible seating will allow my students to move freely around the room, communicate, and share ideas as a community of learners. I want them to feel empowered and confident so they can grow into lifelong learners. Students have more control and take charge of their learning when they have choice. I also feel flexible seating will help them stay focused and on task because they will be comfortable and able to move freely. Providing flexible seating could be most helpful for my students with ADD and ADHD, as it could satisfy their sense of touch and allow them to fidget or move around as necessary. I would love to provide a couch, saucer/moon chairs, and ottoman cubes as flexible seating choices for my students. I would also love to offer a high top table and swivel stools for them to sit at. We are very thankful for donors such as you who make it possible for students to succeed and grow into lifelong learners. We thank you!!
