As an educator, I have learned the necessity of being creative in my presentation in order to cultivate interest, motivation, and purpose for learning among my students. Teaching is not about merely learning the content, but designing a pathway for the students to be able to critically process it. This extends to the physical environment of the classroom. Students often have the need to move and fidget. When there isn't a structured way to do this, behavior issues and various disruptions often result. I want to design a space where students have the freedom to choose a seat that allows them to contain their wiggles so that they can focus critically on the task at hand. Through the use of wobble chairs, balance balls, and other alternative seating options, students will be comfortable throughout the day to communicate, collaborate, and create.
