This project will assist me in using Math and ELA work stations, or centers. As I work with small groups of students, other students will be engaged in independent or partner work stations around the room. During Guided Reading, students can practice spelling on the dry erase boards, read from book baskets, or grab word sorts in the Sterilite containers to practice word work skills. During Guided Math, students may choose from a variety of lessons stored in the larger Sterilite bins to master skills from multiple math standards. All items on the wish list for this project will go straight into students' hands as they use the lessons within them. Differentiated centers that challenge on level learners and help struggling learners are so beneficial and effective for student growth. Centers are not a "free for all" time. They are purposeful and help students practice newly acquired skills. The color dots will be used to label center containers so students can easily choose from task choices that meet their own learning needs. If centers are organized and have the appropriate supplies, students can get to work quicker and stay engaged longer!
