These books will offer students the opportunity to practice their phonics skills within a controlled text. By using phonetically decodable text students are able to fully master their phonics skills. Decodable texts are sequenced to progressively incorporate words that are consistent with the letters and phonemes students have been taught. Students are taught phonics skills in a systematic order, each skill builds on the last. By teaching beginning readers to read this way they apply correct phonological processing skills, build their decoding and fluency abilities, which in turn develops good reading strategies and confidence as a reader. My goal is to provide students with the strategies, skills and practice they need to become strong, confident, fluent readers. My goal for my students is for them to development a lifetime love of reading and learning.
