Our New Room for Learning and Growing!
Funded Sep 6, 2023Our first graders were thrilled to see the new furniture 😍. The rug is beautiful and makes the meeting area perfect for sitting comfortably and learning. They also love the stools, they fit perfectly and we have a super easy meeting area to have our small group learning centers.
As teachers who spend most of our days in our classrooms, we truly appreciate your contributions to helping making our environment as productive and successful as possible. We want the best for our students and you helped us give them that.”

Funded Oct 7, 2021We thank you very much for your donations to our project this year. The folders are very handy at keeping all of our papers organized and neat in our desks. We use them to hold our strategy sheets such as Trick Word Solving strategies, Blends and Digraph charts, High Frequency words, etc. Whenever we are reading, we have easy access to the tools that will help us to be more successful!
We are also very grateful for the Chromebook! It connects to our Smartboard and we are able to see the visual materials that enhance our lessons and help our minds to grow even stronger!”

Ms. B. and Mrs. T
New School Year, New Experience for All
Funded Sep 11, 2020We would like to thank you for your donations. You helped us get set up for a socially distant classroom with the hula hoops and the tape to mark our line spots in the hallway. The kids love the hula hoops and use them to keep their belongings in their own space and to get exercise.
The diversity books are perfect for Read Alouds and Social Emotional Learning. They are an excellent way to make all students from different ethnic groups to feel represented, by seeing their backgrounds and family life in the literature in their classroom.
We are also grateful for the magnetic letters and pictures. We use them in phonics and word work lessons. They help the visual learners and ENL learners to be more engaged and supported.”

Ms. B. and Mrs. T
Supporting an Enriching Learning Space
Funded Nov 5, 2019We are so grateful for our new and improved resources for our classroom environment and our favorite part of the day, center time! The nice, comfortable cushions have allowed us to spread out and use small nooks and crannies to get cozy and get lost in our stories. The sequencing cards have helped us build our imaginations for our creative writing center.
The classroom materials such as the ink and colored sentence strips have helped our room to have colored walls so that we always feel safe and warm in our learning environment.
Your generosity has helped make this very important year in first grade more fulfilling and successful and we will always remember it!”

Ms. B. and Mrs. T
Creating a Lifelong Love of Reading
Funded Oct 16, 2018The new books and white boards are now in use in our classroom. We have a guided reading leveled library and the books are separated into baskets containing the different levels. The students know their independent levels and they get to go to the library once or twice a week to exchange their books. Having a varied choice of books is very important to keep the readers' interest, just like in any library. Thanks to your donations, the students in our class now have a much larger selection to choose from. They are very thankful for this.
Currently we are working on a reading unit in Non-fiction. The students are finding out that they can learn about any topic in the world that they are interested in, just by picking up a book. They are learning strategies for keeping track of new information as they read, making the new vocabulary words part of their own vocabulary, and becoming experts on their topic of choice.
Along with the books, the new white boards are making our word work lessons even more fun and useful. Thank you for giving us these gifts, we truly appreciate them!”

Where Can We Store Our Learning Materials?
Funded Nov 28, 2017We greatly appreciate the donations that you have made to our class. We immediately put the bins and bookcase to use. When class 3-1 comes into the room they have all their materials organized and readily available. The students know exactly where their table's bin is and they go and get their notebooks or folders whenever they need to use them.
We are organizing our library as well. We are using the book shelves to make a new Non-fiction leveled library. We use the guided reading levels and these bins make it easy for students to find the books at their individual reading level.
Thank you for your caring and support!”

Please Bring Some Color to Our Home Away From Home!
Funded Aug 1, 2017Each morning when we walk into the classroom the first thing we see and smell is the beautiful new carpet that adorns the center of our room. It fits perfectly in the middle of our tables and it provides a cozy and safe feeling to the atmosphere. The students didn't even want to step on it with their shoes! Every time a teacher or staff member enters, the first thing they mention is the beautiful new carpet. The carpet has thirty colored rectangles, large enough for a person to sit comfortably. The light, soothing colors are more mature than the primary colors of the carpets in the earlier grades and the squares give each child their own personal space.
Our lessons are just getting started, today was our third day of school. The new printer is already hard at work, and the best part about it is the color ink! At the entrance to our room, we have a spot on the wall designated for posting the Essential Questions for the units of study we are working on. I have been able to create and print out adorable and engaging documents that state the Essential Questions with a photo or clip art insert. These little touches really bring the room to life!
I look forward to all the ways the students will benefit from these wonderful gifts that our donors have provided. The ELL teacher can now adapt student tasks to include photo support, students can create and print out beautiful, color writing pieces and I can make the most out of materials that black and white copies just can't even compare. Thank you all for kicking off our year in the third grade with support and style!”

Ms. B. and Mrs. T
