  • Engaging Materials to Support Student Learning!

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Thank you so much for donating the money to fund our "Engaging Materials to Support Student Learning Project." The students were very excited to use the hands on materials to support their learning. They were particularly excited about all the math games! Learning doesn't always have to be listening to a teacher talk. These math games have the students learning addition, subtraction, place value and fractions in a more engaging way. Sometimes I even feel like I am tricking them into learning when I pull out the games to play during math centers!

Two of my students absolutely love the Sight Word Journals. These two students in particular have been focusing on letter sounds and sight word recognition and they love doing their Sight Word Journals. Even when their work timer is up, and it's time for a break, they ASK to keep doing their sight word journals!! I am so proud of them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Begin

I have been working with special education students for 8 years, however, this is my first time teaching in a sub-separate classroom in a public school. As a first year teacher, I am in need of some help to make my classroom the best learning environment for my students. In our special education classroom, the students learn best when materials are hands on, engaging and interactive. My student's learn best in small groups with materials that they are able to manipulate and interact with. We would appreciate any and all donations in order to support our classroom and fill it with materials. We often do themed crafts based on the lesson we are learning and are in need of more art materials. Writing with a pen and paper is hard for some students and are more motivated to write their answers on white boards. The math kits will give the students a fun way to learn math through engaging materials. Thank you for all the support!
