  • Promoting Financial Literacy and Positive Behavior With a Classroom Store

    Thank you for funding my project to build financial literacy. This project will provide my students with valuable experience working with money, managing inventory, and accounting for sales.   • Spruce Up Our Classroom Library!

    My students were thrilled when they saw me open the Amazon box filled with new books! "Can we take them home today?", they asked. They devoured the brand new collection of A-Z Mysteries, learning about story elements along the way. We currently have a waitlist for the sets of Andrew Clements' books that our book clubs are anxiously waiting to read. Your generous donation inspired even my most reluctant readers to dive into the Katie Woo series. We've created a folder of book reviews so that we can share our thoughts with our peers. Our library is now filled with titles from "old favorite authors" like Andrew Clements, to "newly discovered authors" like Stuart Gibbs. Thank you for this opportunity to inspire a new generation of avid readers.”

  • All Hands on Deck! Morning Bins Build Community!

    Funded Nov 9, 2021

    As my students walk through the door, they are excited to begin each day, looking forward to the project that awaits them. Our morning bins build community, cooperation, and problem-solving skills. Students can be heard saying, "Yes! We get Swish today!", or "Mrs. Alms! Look what we made!" after building a tower with Straws and Connectors. Morning bins give my students time to explore, converse, and get their wiggles out before the day begins. Since we've been using the bins, students know the routine. They independently pass out the bins, distribute the materials, and start cleaning up all on their own. This outcome was a pleasant surprise for me and I'm proud of my students for taking ownership of their learning. Thank you donors for giving my students this opportunity!”

I inherited a classroom library from a teacher who worked at our school for years. While there are many titles, they need updating. I need to supplement our library with books that interest my students. Students need access to high-interest, quality literature. I want to motivate my students to read even more by giving them access to new titles and replacing those titles that are falling apart! Not a day goes by that I'm not taping up a poor old paperback that is falling apart at the seams. A robust classroom library provides access to quality literature for everyone. It ensures that all students have enough books to read at school and at home to develop literacy. There's nothing like seeing a child's eyes light up when they've read a good book!
