My high school will be hosting a 2017 Decision Day to celebrate all of the seniors who have been accepted to college. With less than half of our seniors being A-G eligible, we feel it is extremely important to highlight and recognize all of the hard work and dedication it has taken to get our seniors to this moment! I advise on a campus that is made up of predominantly low-income and under-served students who will be the first in their families to attend college. These kids are not only making a better future for themselves, but creating generational impact in their families! This event is two-fold, it serves to celebrate our seniors but also help us to improve our college going culture by giving underclassmen something to work towards and look forward to in the future! In order to attend, students must submit their college acceptance letters and sit through a financial aid award letter review meeting with a college advisor to ensure they are fully prepared to start school next fall! We are requesting an iPad as a raffle prize for one lucky student in need to use for their first year of college! We are also requesting supplies (glue, foam boards, markers, sticky notes) to create a large wall that will allow students to write sticky notes about what motivated/guided them to go to college. This wall will be passed down to underclassmen to gain inspiration from! We are also requesting balloons for decoration of our gym where the event will be held and raffle tickets to conduct the iPad raffle. We would greatly appreciate YOUR support to make this event a success!
