  • Calming Effects of Light Therapy

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations. They were very excited and in awe of the light table when I first brought it out. They love to build with magnetic tiles and the light highlights the tiles even more and makes much more fun to play with. For now, we have been using it for primarily play and exploration. However, I hope to use it more in academic settings to help make learning fun and enjoyable. I cannot wait to discover more activities and more ways to utilize this awesome tool.

    Thank you so much!!

    Love,

Rachel, Simi, Marjorie, Makeyla, Emanuel, Adrian, Efrain, Anthony, and Hsa”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkes

  • Technology to Facilitate Student Independence

    Funded Dec 1, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous gift of iPads and cases. My students may not be able to express there thanks to you themselves, but if they could I know that they would tell how touch they are that you guys cared enough to donate to their classroom project. Unfortunately, we cannot afford iPads for each student, but thanks to your donation we have almost made that possible.

This site in amazing and all of you donors that make this site possible to thrive are inspiring!!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkes

  • Students with Disabilities Deserve Nice Things Too!!

    Funded Aug 9, 2017

Thank you for donating iPads to my classroom. We use iPads to help facilitate our 1:1 discrete trial programming, which allows us to give quality instruction to each student. We use iPads to create social stories that help set up classroom and school expectations and rules to follow. We use our iPads to learn while playing specific learning games. We use iPads as positive reinforcement, when we finish our work then we get to play with the iPad. This makes our teacher very happy because it helps to keep behaviors at a minimum. We love our iPads and we love you for helping our classroom!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkes

  • Learning in Color!

    Funded Jun 9, 2017

Thank you so much for choosing to donate to my classroom. I have used my color printer so much since I got it. I have used it to print off communication boards so that every student can have their own. I have used it to create schedule cards so that student know what comes next in the day. I have used to create a wait 5 minutes or do it now page. I have used it to print animal pictures, which one of my student earns 10 then she can choose what she wants to do. Because of your donation I am able to create more aids that will help improve behavior in he classroom. Thank you and I hope that you will enjoy the thank you cards that my student made for you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hawkes

All of the students in my classroom have some sort of intellectual disability: some are diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, some are diagnosed on the Down Syndrome Spectrum. There are a number of evidence-based technology applications that will help my students succeed in the classroom and keep up with their same-age typically developing peers. I would like to use the requested iPads to start using a voice output system to help my non-verbal students communicate with peers and teachers. I would like to get a typing program that can easily be used on an iPad to help students who have limited fine motor skills to write with a typical writing utensil. Every student in general education classroom has their own tablet to work with, so why can't my students have the same access to technology as the same-age, typically developing peers? Especially if it will help them learn.
