Hi, my name is Ms. Gattuso (my students call me Ms. G). This is my second year as a Behavioral Support teacher for a self-contained Behavioral/Emotional Disorder Special Education Classroom. This is a new and challenging adventure in my life as I am working to help students with emotional and behavioral disorders.
In this classroom it’s not always about academics, but also about trying to understand each student’s social and emotional needs, which frequently arise and require immediate attention. While helping these students address their individual issues, I also teach them math, science, health, history, English, geography, personal skills and other content areas.
My goal is to make their learning experience well rounded and engaging. All funds donated to my classroom will be used for age appropriate books, therapeutic supplies, incentives, school supplies, and other classroom materials. I intend to engage my students before school starts when I volunteer at registration and greet my students by giving them a bag of school supplies with a note from me about all of the characteristics I value in that individual student.
I want my students to come to class on their first day with a positive attitude and a belief in their ability to be successful. Your donation will help me provide for more therapeutic lessons, incentives, art therapy, group reading, how make better choices, break out sessions for team building, and, ultimately, a more engaging routine in my classroom. My budget for my classroom is currently $200 for the 2017-2018 school year. I would like to provide more for my students as stated above and my goal is to get the supplies they need. This would mean the world to me if I could raise these funds so I can make this the best school year for these students.
