  • Kindergarten Summer Mementos

    Funded May 29, 2024

Thanks to the anonymous donor who sent me a gift card earlier this year. Now my students will be able to create some lasting memories in the last few days of school and continue to remember our special year together as they move on to first grade. They will be able to stay engaged through summer with the activities we provide them. I can’t wait to see all they accomplish as they continue on their educations!”

  • Inspiring Stories in Kindergarten

    Funded Oct 5, 2023

Thank you for your generous donation. My students love to read stories but our library was lacking in stories that mirror my students lives. With your donations, we now have many more books with much more diversity and represention, highlighting the wide range of children throughout the world. The books we got from your donations include children of diverse ethnicities, family structures, physical and neurological differences, and much more. The stories all introduce and expose students to the wide diversity in real life.

With these books, I have noticed my students growing more and more engaged in the stories they tell. They loved to read these books over and over again during read aloud. These books will continue to impact this class of kids, and also students for years to come. Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom.”

  • Relax and Craft!

    Funded Mar 29, 2023

Thank you so much for the donations to supply my students with art supplies. The supplies brought joy and relaxation to the lives of my students. When the kids learned that we got new paints and art supplies they were so excited that they yelled and clapped. We used the materials during our end of day choice time. The kids loved painting with the watercolors and making bracelets with the beads.

Thanks to your donation, my students are finding ways to relax and feel comfortable at school. This is helping them to destress and find joyful moments in our otherwise busy days. This is so important to the lives of my students. Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rowley

  • Geared Up and Good to Go!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Your donations to my classroom gave my students the critical supplies that they needed to grow as readers and writers this year. Many students this year came in unable to hold a pencil correctly. We didn't have enough chunky pencils and crayons and easy writing pens to help them overcome their fine motor challenges and build their writing stamina. With your donations we got chunky pencils and crayons and flair pens, perfect for their growing hand muscles. We used the laminating sheets and dry erase markers to create reusable tracing cards to help them practice tracing letters and numbers as well. Now everybody can draw and write.

We used the cardstock paper to create personal alphabet and number books for kids who needed more intervention to learn their letters and numbers. The kids love to pull out their books and see their name on the cover. They are practicing everyday to catch up with their peers.

Your support made such a huge difference in our classroom. Getting these supplies really helped and we are all so appreciative. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Cozy Classroom

    Funded May 6, 2022

Your donations have had a huge impact on my students! From the first day that the students gathered on the rug for morning meeting, they found cozy seating options to help them settle in and adjust to their new classroom. The students love to sit on the child sized couch during our meeting times.

During the first weeks of school, many students feel nervous to enter the classroom and join in the activities. Several students routinely came to me and asked, "Can I sit on the rocking chair and read a book?" Of course I said yes and after a few minutes relaxing in the chair, they would come back to the group to participate.

I also work with some students this year who are working through very big emotional challenges. When they get upset they can often become very distressed and react in unsafe ways. Having the rocking chair has created a safe space for them to sit with a teacher, to rock and cuddle as they calm their body back down. It has changed so much about how we support our most challenging students. For that I am so grateful!”

  • Developing Strong Hands and Hearts

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. Your donations have made such a huge impact on my students. The students were so excited when I told them we would be getting some special tools to help them learn this year.

When they saw the stuffed animals. they all screamed with joy. Each child was able to choose their special stuffed animal and keep it with them at their table in their bins. Throughout the day, we noticed the kids giving their animals names, laughing and playing with them, and hugging them close when they were feeling frustrated or sad to help calm themselves down.

The playdough has also made an impact. The students use the playdough during break and play times, but also during literacy station work to build letters and words. The playdough has helped many students with fine motor challenges build hand muscle strength that carries over in the writing work.

We are also so grateful for the pencil sharpeners which have helped us use a variety of sizes on pencils to support each individual students needs.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rowley

  • Play to Make Friends!

    Funded Nov 4, 2019

The impact from your donation has been huge! The students in my class are excited to enter each morning and use the new resources that your donation provided. In each corner of the classroom, I can see students building tall towers with Magnatiles, designing new structures with LEGOs, and learning and playing with farm animals.

One of the coolest things about Magnatiles and LEGOs is that you can never really have enough. With your donation, we more than doubled our supply of Magnatiles and LEGOs. As a result, the students are able to build bigger and more intricate structures. They are practicing STEAM skills that will support their future success.

Their language development is also making leaps and bounds, thanks to your donation. At each table, I can hear them practicing social and academic communication skills, such as asking for turns, sharing materials, working collaboratively and using descriptive words to explain what they are doing or what they need. Thank you so much for your contribution to my class!”

  • Making Meaning Through Art

    Funded Sep 4, 2018

Thank you so much for donating art supplies to my classroom!

The students have been so excited to use the new watercolor paints and clay. Each morning, the students come in to the classroom and excitedly choose what materials to work with during our "Project Time." Many students rush to sign up for clay and watercolor. In the morning, they explore the many ways they can use the materials in a free exploration time.

Later in the afternoon, they apply their skills to creating projects that are aligned with our social studies curriculum. For example, during our study of the school and school community, the children used the clay and clay tools to make objects in our classroom out of clay. During our unit on self and others, the students made self portraits with the watercolors. We've also used our new art materials in other subjects as well!

The students were proud to display their art pieces on the bulletin boards in the hallway where all their friends and family could see. Your donation made a big difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rowley

When it comes to making meaning of the world around them, my students are diverse individuals with unique challenges and needs. Some express their learning through writing, while other like to get hands-on and create. They all enjoy exploring our different curriculum themes through various art and tactile experiences. In my Kindergarten classroom, we've found ways to incorporate social studies themes into our reading and writing curricula, but something is still missing: ART! This year, my students will learn about the world around them (their families, their school community, and their neighborhood) through books, field trips, writing, and if this project is funded, through art. They will use clay and clay tools to create stores and buildings in their neighborhood that they'd like to add if they could. They will use watercolor paint and paper to make portraits of themselves and their families. They will use the drying rack to safely dry their masterpieces so they can later beautify their school walls. By engaging in joyful exploration of clay and painting materials, students will deepen their learning and understanding. Our curriculum this year will include creating self portraits using various medium (pencil, markers, paint, collage and clay). We'll also make models of our classroom, school, and neighborhood. We'll study buildings, transportation and careers that are critical to our neighborhood and world. We won't just read about these big ideas, students will also create what interests them most about the topics.
