Our world is growing at such a fast pace. Most of the professions that our students will work in currently don't exist. Time and time again, we hear the importance of the sciences. However, most classrooms that I've seen don't even the basic tools necessary to support their curiosity. In order for our students to get a deeper understanding of their world, they need to look at it up close and personal, not just thru pictures. The microscopes will better prepare my students make closer observations, take detailed notes and better critical thinkers. They will also have to learn the social skill of patience by taking turns. Since they will be working in teams, they will need to be patient and wait their turn to look through the microscope.
