I'm requesting 4 Chromebooks to be used exclusively in our after school STEM Clubs. Students in these clubs will use the Chromebooks to research designs and needed materials to build a robot that can maneuver a complex obstacle course . They will also be able to use the Chromebooks to research the best coding sequence by which to operate the robot. Then the Chromebooks will be used to build the coding program that puts the robot through the various drills. The Chromebooks will also be used for data presentation and communication. For example, students will create power point presentations about their 3-D prosthetic body parts for endangered animals. Student designed business cards and trifold brochures will be produced about the Bio Tech companies they've founded. In consideration of the environment, our students will use digital versions of Science Fair project boards and Science Journals. Emailing and meeting via Skype with our sister STEM school in Haiti about our collaborative Science initiatives will become more consistent with the use of these Chromebooks. Adding these Chromebooks to our STEM Clubs will encourage our students to become critical thinkers and independent learners as well as assisting them in being more competitive.
