Can you sit in the same chair all day everyday? I cannot, and I can tell you my students cannot either. That is why flexible seating is a necessity to incorporate into our classroom. It increases motivation and engagement, creates a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improves core strength and their posture. Every teachers goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment in which their students can learn. Students need to be given opportunities and choices so that they become more invested in their learning. Flexible seating will give them a chance to choose where they would like to learn, and where they feel they will be most successful. The students in my classroom will use this alternative seating everyday! The wobble chairs will allow students to remain active while being seated. Students will also use the backless balance chairs to keep them engaged in their learning. These chairs will promote proper posture and help strengthen their core, all the while focusing on their school work. The wobble cushions offer a lot of versatility to the students, they can be used at their desk on their chair or it can be placed on the ground around the room. All of these new flexible seating options will allow students a choice on where and how they will actively learn in our classroom.
