  • Endless Possibilities With Dictionaries

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

I can't express how much your donation has impacted our students. Bayshore Elementary is one of the oldest schools in our county. This comes with many challenges, however, the expectation to meet student needs are higher than ever.

Coming back from Covid has been a long road. We are still struggling to close the gaps that students encountered during the past four years. Students have a severe deficit in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar. The dictionaries are a perfect way for students to learn these skills in class.

Students were very excited to have their own dictionary to use in class rather then sharing. Teachers can provide a whole group vocabulary or grammar lesson with the peace of mind that all students will be engaged. This is all thanks to you and your donation!”

Thank you for your generous donation of Sunshine State reading books for 2022-2023 school year. My students will be exposed to books of all genres and earn accolades for reading. I appreciate your commitment to providing children with quality books and supporting a love of reading for my students.”

  • We Are All Full of “Wonder!”

    Funded Jan 17, 2021

Thank you for your donation of a class set of Wonder. My students have loved having their own book to read along as I read to them. Wonder is a book about perseverance, kindness, and acceptance. As a teacher of 4th grade students, this is the perfect age to instill these traits into children. My students love this book! I have started a book study too. Students are given comprehension and vocabulary questions on chapters that we have read the week before. Students work in small groups to complete the book study. I can't thank you enough for this amazing gift. I plan to use this class set for many years to come.”

  • Accessible Writing For All

    Funded Oct 31, 2020

I hope this message finds you healthy. I want to take a few moments to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation to my students. These headphone have given my students much need assistive technology, but also the ability to be more independent when writing essays.

In fourth grade, we begin the process of writing informative and opinion text based essays. This is extremely difficult for grade level students, but for students that are significantly below grade level this is even more difficult. Students must be able to read, plan, and write an essay by the end of the school year. Seems reasonable right? Well, not for students that are reading and writing on a Kindergarten level.

Before I received the headphones, I was lucky if I could get these students to write one to two complete sentences. Now I am getting a full paragraph because they are able to speak their words using the headphones. My students are feeling more successful and confident in their abilities. As a teacher, that fills my heart with love. I have you to thank! You have given students that struggle a way to achieve success by donating the headphones. I am very appreciative of your dedication to education and student success.”

  • Tablets Save The Day

    Funded Oct 1, 2020

This school year has been very different compared to any year in the past. I don't think any of us expected that COVID-19 would be impacting our daily lives the way it has been. The start of a school year is exciting! This year I went in with nervousness. Since families had the choice to participate in school virtually, all of our laptops in the classrooms were taken out which left teachers with limited to no technology in classrooms.

Having limited technology prompted me to create this project for tablets. Even though we are in unprecedented times, the expectation that students complete required minutes on I-Ready and take reading tests. This is a difficult task with limited technology.

As soon as I received the tablets, my students were so excited to use them. They actually race to get a tablet. We have been able to meet I-Ready Reading and Math minute requirements. In addition, students are reading more with Epicbooks.com, completing learning activities with apps like Seesaw, Nearpod, and Splash Learn. Students are also using the tablets to write essays. The tablets have opened up a whole world of possibilities for my students. Thank you for your commitment to education and your donation.”

  • Little Picasso’s

    Funded Apr 30, 2018

I first want to thank you for contributing to the education of children! My classroom is the first school experience for eighty percent of my students. In Pre-Kindergarten, we are always doing some type of craft project and your contribution of craft supplies and manipulatives will allow us to create quality work and master necessary skills before entering Kindergarten.

We have already used the construction paper to create a variety of projects like a characteristic project, spelling names, Grandparents day craft, and a tiger made from the letter T. The playdoh, alphabet stamps, and number mats were a HUGE hit with the students.

Thank you again for your dedication to education and supporting my students in having a successful school year.”

  • Superior Seating

    Funded Aug 1, 2017

I am absolutely in love with our classroom set of Seat Sacks and so are my students! From the minute I saw another teachers seat sacks, I knew I had that I had to have them for my classroom. They have truly been life changing for me and my students. My storage space in the classroom is very limited, so these seat sack are perfect for my students to hold their own crayon boxes and journals. These items are convenient and accessible to my students at all times. For example, today we did a Halloween craft that they needed their crayons. I was able to say, take out your crayons and knew they didn't have to walk somewhere to get them. They just have to turn around and viola! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity! I am forever grateful! You have not only touched my students this year, but for years to come!”

  • The Wonderful World of Writing

    Funded May 23, 2017

This project has been very exciting for my students! They day I introduced the whiteboards and markers, I saw every student light up! I placed a whiteboard, marker, and eraser in a zip lock baggie for each student labeled with their name. I modeled how to use the markers and whiteboards. Next we dove right into learning how to write the letter T. This was our first letter we focused on this school year. I can't tell you how excited I am for my students to learn letter writing and more with this class set of whiteboards and markers.

Due to Hurricane Irma, we were not able to start using our ABC journals you donated to my classroom, but rest assured we will be using them. As soon as we return to school I will post pictures of this wonderful tool. For each letter the students will color pictures that start with that letter, cut them out, glue them in the journal, and then write the word of the pictures. This activity is such an awesome learning opportunity to enhance fine motor skills.

Thank you so much for believing in my project and donating to my students! I truly appreciate your commitment to public education and early childhood education.”

  • To Infinity and Beyond!

    Funded May 3, 2017

I want to thank you for your generosity to my students! The Instant Math Learning Centers and Math File Folder Games are extremely engaging for my students. The best thing about these complete sets of activities is they have different levels of difficulty that will carry my instruction throughout the school year. We are starting out with colors, shapes, and simple counting. We will soon lead into harder skills like simple addition, measurement, and patterning. My students absolutely loved playing all of the centers. They think they are playing a game. This is exactly what I wanted. Learning through play! Thank you again for contributing to my students success!”

  • Music, Movement, and Mastering Skills

    Funded Aug 8, 2017

I can't thank you enough for your donation to my students! As soon as we received the rhythm sticks and scarves we put them to use by tapping out syllables, the alphabet, counting, and learning positional words. We made different sounds with the rhythm sticks. I am most excited to teach the alphabet in a fun and inventive way. I can't wait to continue to integrate these items more in my classroom routine. The excitement on my students faces were priceless. Incorporating music, movement, and learning is a sure fire way for my students to learn while having fun. Thank you again for your generosity!”

My students come from diverse backgrounds and have various academic levels. Teaching at a Title One school where almost 80% of the school population is on free or reduced lunch can be challenging. Fourth grade is a year of different expectations and new learning. We build on reading skills they learned the previous year, but also introduce text based writing. Essay writing is a difficult skill for 9-10 year old students. I need materials that are suitable for all levels of academic ability. The key to my students success is the availability of high quality materials. Help me help my 45 students that deserve the best!
