  • Let's Learn Phonics!

    Funded Oct 15, 2019

Wow! Thank you so very much for your generous donations. Because of you, my students now have more materials to help them learn phonics. The red crayons are a great help for them to write red words, the dry board erasers are great in helping them to erase their boards, and the cart is essential to illustrate my blending board for them to learn various phonics. We appreciate your thoughtfulness so much. My students are even more excited to learn having these items to use and help make learning fun! THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burrow

  • Make Phonics Fun!

    Funded Nov 11, 2019

Thank you so much for the needed materials to improve our Phonics learning. I am constantly trying to find ways to engage students in their learning, and the finger lights have been a hit! My kids have loved using them to spell out words and "sky write!" It has been fun for the students! The index cards have been a great addition to our learning as students write the new words we are learning and use them as flash cards to study each night. We go through many index cards considering I have 50 students and they each use about 30 for the whole year! Thank you so much!!!!!!”

  • Small Group Fun

    Funded Jul 25, 2019

Wow!! Thank you so much for your generous donations to help my children in the classroom. Because of your generosity, my kids are able to have a comfortable table to learn for small group activities. Thankfully, the table can roll and I can move it wherever I need it, or I can keep it in one place. I am very thankful for that feature! My kids love to do small group work, and this table has been a blessing for them as I am teaching them each day. Again, thank you so much for donating to such a great cause. I appreciate you!”

  • Comfortable Seating & Fun STEM Games

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

Thank you so very much for your generous donations! Because of you, my kids are able to learn at a small group table in comfortable, flexible seating! They love it! The stools are different from every day chairs, and comfortable! They love the color as well! Also, thank you so much for the tan-o-grams. We have used these a variety of way in science class, literacy class, and enrichment classes. It has been a creative way for students to learn new skills that I am teaching. Again, thank you so much!”

  • Let's Read!

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

Wow! Thank you so very much for your donations! My students will greatly be impacted because of your generous donations. My students have now been supplied with over 75 new nonfiction books as well as new comfortable seating to read!

I have quite a few of kids who do not care to read, so I'm trying my hardest to instill a love for reading by providing them with flexible seating to read and to provide books of various subjects that would interest my kids. Most all of my kids love animal books or sports related books!

I use the nonfiction books to constantly teach various strategies. This week we have been learning to summarize nonfiction texts using these new books provided. Again, thank you so much for your continued support for my students!”

  • Books! Books! Books!

    Funded Aug 12, 2018

Thank you!!!! Because of you, my students now have a bigger variety of nonfiction books to read. I teach fifth grade, but have students on many different levels. With your donation, I was able to purchase various leveled books.

My students read for 20-30 minutes each day and they love to read nonfiction! We have started a new reading level strategy in my class with nonfiction books, so more nonfiction books were greatly needed! My students find a comfortable spot in the room to relax and enjoy their book.

My students have especially loved the book about animals. It seems that every year animal nonfiction books are their favorite! Thank you again for increase my library collection and giving my students opportunities to read more books!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Burrow

As a teacher, I will utilize the nonfiction books to teach various text features. As for the students, nonfiction is a text that they will use all their life. For example, reading instructions, reading a newspaper, learning new information, etc. It is important that they understand how to read text features and know they will be able to understand these features in the future as needed. Starting this year, our school is implementing a new reading strategy. The main source of this reading strategy will be reading nonfiction books. I have been blessed to have many fiction books in my classroom library, but I desperately need more nonfiction books for my kids.
