I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors who have contributed microphones and audio equipment for our student podcasting project. This initiative has truly been a transformative experience for my students, and the impact of your contributions cannot be overstated.
From the very beginning, this project has been nothing short of a godsend. The tools you have provided have taken my students' creativity to extraordinary new heights. With the high-quality microphones and audio equipment at their disposal, they have been able to explore their voices and ideas in ways that were previously unimaginable. It has opened up a world of possibilities for them, allowing them to engage in meaningful storytelling and develop vital communication skills that are essential in today's world.
Creating podcasts has encouraged my students to express themselves more freely and authentically. They have learned to articulate their thoughts, share their perspectives, and collaborate with their peers. This project has not only elevated their individual capabilities but has also fostered a strong sense of community among them. Working together on their podcasts, they have formed bonds that extend beyond the classroom, and this collaboration has enriched their learning experience.
The quality of the audio equipment you donated has played a significant role in the success of our project. The clear sound and professional-grade microphones have allowed my students to produce presentations that truly stand the test of time. Many of their podcasts have become models for subsequent classes, serving as examples of excellence and creativity. It's incredibly rewarding to see my students take pride in their work and inspire others to do the same.
Furthermore, the process of creating podcasts has helped my students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They have learned to research topics, structure their narratives, and edit their recordings. Each step of the podcasting process has required them to think critically about how to convey their messages effectively. They have become more mindful of their audience and the importance of delivering content that is both engaging and informative.
Your generous donations have not only provided the necessary equipment, but they have also demonstrated a commitment to supporting education and the arts. This support has been instrumental in fostering an environment where creativity can flourish. It has shown my students that their voices matter and that they have the power to share their stories with the world. This realization is a vital aspect of their personal and academic growth.
In addition to enhancing their technical skills, the podcasting project has also allowed my students to explore various topics that are important to them. They have delved into issues ranging from social justice to environmental concerns, showcasing their passion and engagement with the world around them. This has not only made their learning relevant but has also empowered them to become informed citizens who can advocate for change.
As we continue to develop this project, I want to assure you that your contributions will have a lasting impact. The skills my students are acquiring will serve them well in their future endeavors, whether in higher education or their careers. They are learning to communicate effectively, think critically, and work collaboratively—all essential skills in today's dynamic world.
In closing, I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation of microphones and audio equipment. Your support has made a significant difference in the lives of my students, providing them with the tools they need to express their creativity and engage with their education in meaningful ways. Together, we are fostering the next generation of thinkers, storytellers, and leaders. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey. Your generosity is truly appreciated, and I look forward to sharing more of our students' incredible work with you in the future.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018I know that you opted out receiving thank you cards but I would like to answer the question prompts with responses from my students. Chelsey Z. stated "we had the chance to use the Chromebooks for a campaign project and thanks to the electronics, we were able to connect with our group members through a shared doc." For India M. "with the Chromebooks we were able to take a test and instantly receive feedback on what we needed help on." According to Sade A. "typing on the Chromebooks is easier and faster, and I think I get more done typing than writing because I don't have to stop when my hand cramps up. Writing for a long period of time hurts but with typing my hand doesn't cramp at all."
For myself the Chromebooks has allowed me to employ more centered learning were I am able to infuse more technology while promoting more equity in terms of collaboration. I am excited about the increased level of innovation that my students have exhibited and the enhanced engagement that I have witnessed from my students. In his response my student Ashwin C. concluded that "companies like Ripple have had a positive impact on my education because the Chromebooks allows students, as well as myself to access a wide variety of resources that made me learn things earlier." Thank you for your investment and for the positive impact that you have made for both my students and myself.”
With gratitude,

Funded Apr 14, 2017I apologize that this thank you letter will not be able to fully express the impact that your donation will have on the 198 students that I serve on a daily basis. With budget constraints and bureaucratic obstacles it can be a daunting task to implement a good idea. I've realized in my 17 years of teaching that you often have to meet students where they are at, and that in this technological age students often process information in fragments and having access to information in multiple platforms with the ability to pause, rewind, and comment can make the learning more accessible. While in the past I have tried to find sources that often times loosely connected to units this resource has provided opportunities for me as well as my students to create content that best fits our needs.
This process of creating content will also allow my students to learn 21st century skills and apply those skills through the creation of vlogs, process videos, and expository broadcasts. This year we adapted a new online grading/communication platform, and while it has been a steep learning curve the platform comes with unlimited storage. Last week I uploaded my first "Master Class" in which I took my 9th grade students through a step by step explanation of how they were assessed providing commentary on an exemplary student model. Students were able to use this model and video access to improve upon their draft before they submitted their editorial letters to the local paper.
In having the students reflect on the impact of this first master class I was able to see how this tool could be a significant game changer particularly for my reluctant learners. With class sizes of 40 9th graders in a 55 minute period it is a logistical quagmire to adequately address every students needs and to differentiate between my high and low level learners. In her reflection one of my students remarked that viewing the video made the content seem more direct and individualized. For students that often consume media through personal devices whether it be a cell phone or a tablet having the ability to augment my lessons provides an essential bridge until I can personally meet with them. Thank You”
