Flexible seating provides a learning environment that kids need. It gives the students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them and help them to work collaboratively, communicate with each other, and engage in critical thinking. Within in First grade classroom, I watch students wiggle in their seats all day and only so much work can be done in a traditional setting. This project will allow for my students to have access to supplies that otherwise in their lives they might not ever see. As a low poverty school, it is vital that I create an environment that connects students into my classroom so they are forever excited to learn. Students will be more comfortable. I will be able to pose questions, problems, or scenarios, and the students will have plenty of space to work together to research issues, share ideas, and develop their own knowledge. My classroom environment will promote learning and will reach every child. The more comfortable my students are, the more engaged they will be, which leads to more learning. With the use of the fidget toys, wobble chairs, stability disks, and lap desks, my students will be able to take ownership of their learning. They will be able to freely move around the room as they learn and engage all the parts of their brains needed to not just learn, but transfer knowledge into real life.
