Ringing in Some New Lights
Funded Nov 22, 2019Just the other day my photography class was practicing shooting Portraits in our studio. One of my students, who was our shy model, said "I never get good pictures of myself". Five minutes later her and her photographer were reviewing her portraits and she shrieked with glee "Ohh my gosh I look good, ohh that makes me feel so much better about my week!" That is the kind of impact your donation is having on my students.
Of course we didn't just get the light to make students feel better it has also proven to be a very valuable addition to our lighting options. Lighting is a hard thing for students to conceptualize in lectures and/or worksheets. It is the kind of thing that you just have to get out there and play with. Before the addition of this piece to our lighting setup all of our lights were pretty standard softboxes that you used the same with little experimentation from my students. Now with the new lighting I find they are experimenting with different setups a lot more. Thank you for contributing to this campaign it has meant the world to my photography students.”

Save My Students Eyes
Funded Feb 10, 2019What a blessing it has been since our new monitors arrived. We recently live streamed 20 basketball games in one weekend and the larger, clearer screens made everything so much easier to see and helped us really produce a great tournament.
The students of course feel and act a lot more official as well. I think the idea that they are looking at their shots through a large screen and not hunched over a small on camera monitor helps them to feel more like the pros.
The new monitors have been very easy to setup and we already have plans to try and get some more to match our 4 camera live production. Thank you for your donation and for helping us keep the HHS Stream Team great!”

Funded Aug 22, 2018We have been so excited to get and start using the new 360' camera. In particular my students are always wanting to push forward with the most innovative technology and it is great to get their hands on a camera that is not only easy to use but also gets them super excited for the assignment.
In particular one student decided to create her public service announcement video (about the dangers of plastic) using the 360 camera. It is a pretty cool video meant to show the world around us covered in plastic. It is not finished being edited yet but once it is I will try to share that link.
As with any new tech we have many things to figure out still about how to get it all just perfect but I am confident with the amount of interest that it draws my students will have it all figured out real soon.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for all of the great and quick donations. This is our second project and it was quickly reached. These new mics have not been used much yet considering it is almost the end of the school year, but there have been some great videos from our school's video production class that has used these mics. The mics come out with great crisp audio that is causing kids to want to use them more and more.
We are grateful for all of the donations and for all of the support for the Hutchison High School Stream Team. The students and I work hard to keep these streams going and to improve them for your viewing pleasure. Thank you for the donations and the constant support.”

Funded Apr 13, 2018We were very excited to return from summer break to our new 360 degree camera. It took a while to get it all squared away with the school districts Internet passwords and such but once we got it up and running the students were very excited. Our first project was to use it during our open house time to allow parents walking in the front door to do a virtual tour of our school before doing their actual walking tour. It was very fun to see the parents putting on the VR headsets and getting excited.
One of my groups in particular that is excited about the technology is our streaming media team. They will be using the camera to give a 360' VR experience from center court of the upcoming Senior night volleyball game. It should make for a very interesting camera and experience for our viewers.
Though I have not allowed all my students access yet as we work out all the details of the new technology I have a number of very excited younger students that are chomping at the bit to get their hands on this technology that you so graciously helped provide.
Thank you for all you do to make our teaching/learning experiences as innovative as possible!”

Lighting Up Students Future
Funded Mar 7, 2018Thank you for the donations and the new tights. We are have been greatly enjoying the new lighting set up. We have been using them for our segment "Tweet of The Week" that is played every Wednesday during our daily news show, the Hawk H.I.T. News. We have also had plans to use them for interviews of fans, coaches, and players for our Stream Team. Thank you for your donation and we greatly appreciate the support for the fans and the community
The students were very excited to hear about the new lights and to get to use them. These are a nice step up from the old light that we have been using the past few years. These lights are already raising interest in our photography students as well. They can't wait to set up some studio time to shoot.
Thank you again for the generous donations and the support form all of you, our viewers. This Stream Team is a club of a much bigger group of students. These lights will go to great use and donations like this put us one step closer to helping these students create a bright future.”
