One area my students struggle with is reading. Having mostly special education students, they are often two grade levels behind their peers. My coworker and I do stations daily and these materials would be very beneficial for the students. We have recently implemented various types of reading intervention stations and we are excited to continue these stations next year. These stations include comprehension, phonics, sight words, and partner work. Our students are showing improvement but we want to continue to push them with new material. This is where the donations come in. In order to make these resources for students, we need the materials. We use dry erase boards and markers at each of our stations. These never seem to last as long as we would like! We have been doing interactive binders with some of our lower students and this is helping them to work independently. In order to make these, we need laminating sheets and velcro strips. Within the interactive binders, they are able to be hands-on and learn numbers, letters, shapes, etc. During our stations, our students have behavior/social skill goals that they get the chance to work on and we do this through games. They get about 7 minutes each day to sit down and play a game with another student/s cooperatively. The games that I have asked for will help offset the cost of providing these. By being able to provide what students need, they will be able to further their education and improve on some of their Individualized Education Plan goals.
