  • Let’s Master That Skill!

    Funded Apr 5, 2020

Thank you so much for helping us get our "Let's Master That Skill!" project giving our students Comprehension Kits and dry erase markers to master various English Language Arts skills.

With all schools, students and teachers being directly affected by COVID, it is all the more important for us to try to maintain some sort of academic normalcy within the classroom and remotely.

When the box arrived, our students were so excited to open it. A few of the students cheered when they saw all the comprehension kits and dry erase markers. They yelled out in joy, "Yes, we get to do more reading and writing now!" A few other started dancing and jumping around the class holding the kits!

Writing and reading are important facets of third grade and part of our daily routine. Our students range in comprehension ability and each one learns in a different way. As a Special Education teacher, it is my responsibility to differentiate instruction and give our students the opportunity to do so.

Students need practice in order to master skills such as making inferences, comparing and contrasting, identifying the main idea, finding the point of view, identifying the author's purpose, recognizing character traits and text features, and finding key details.

With these reusable Comprehension Kits and dry erase markers we now have the resources to ensure that we meet each and every one of our students' literacy needs.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and for caring!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zahnijnyj

  • Let’s Get Creative!

    Funded Sep 1, 2020

Thank you so much for helping us get our "Let's Get Creative!" project funded, and for all the art supplies we received to encourage students to express themselves!

We can't wait to show all these supplies to our students and see what they create! Unfortunately, our students will be learning remotely for the time being due to COVID. Once we all return to the classroom these art supplies will be an amazing welcome for them!

My heart breaks for all our students because they are not able to at this time experience being social and learn from one another. When we all return to the classroom they will most definitely need extra loving and the resources to communicate and express what they have been through during quarantine.

All children are creative and art is the perfect way for them to express themselves! What is more precious than a child hand-making a gift for a loved one! Can you imagine the joy that students who struggle to communicate and express themselves would experience by creating a one-of-a-kind project?

Craft sticks, pom poms, googly eyes, sequins, doilies, paint, and brushes will bring our students such joy, and give them the ability to create and express their ideas! The flower pots which students will decorate and grow flowers in will make a wonderful Mother's Day gift!

Thanks to your donations we have the necessary art supplies for our students to express themselves and learn! They will be able to tap into their crafty sides and become artists!

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and for caring! Thank you for giving our students the opportunity to be individuals!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zahnijnyj

  • Help! We Need Supplies to Make This a Great Year!

    Funded Dec 25, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us get our "Help! We Need Supplies to Make This a Great Year!" project funded giving our students art supplies so that they can express their individuality!

When the boxes arrived, our students were so excited to unpack all the art supplies! They couldn't believe how many colored pencils, crayons and dry erase markers there were. The students were so happy to have new dry erase markers, which they use for math, because the ones that we have in class have all dried up. Several students even volunteered to re-organize the pencils and crayons by color every day!

We teach is a school which is located in a low socio-economic community and our school is a Title 1 school. Most students cannot afford simple art supplies such as crayons and colored pencils, and it is up to us teachers to purchase these needed supplies.

Thanks to your donations we have the necessary classroom supplies to finish out the year successfully! Our young, beautiful children are most definitely smiling and will continue learning! And a huge weight has been lifted off me and my co-teacher not having to dip into our own pockets for these supplies.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and for caring!”

  • Help! We Need Supplies to Make This a Great Year!

    Funded Dec 28, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us get our "Help! We Need Supplies to Make This a Great Year!" project giving our students classroom supplies in order to be able to be actively engaged and learn!

When the boxes arrived, our students were so excited to unpack all the supplies, however, the reactions were mixed. Most of our students cheered when they saw all the pencils, the erasers, the paper and the sharpener. They yelled out in joy, "Yes, we can do more writing and math now!" Then there were those few who grunted and said, "Ugh! Now we have no excuse not to do our work!"

Our students worked together to unpack all the supplies, and stock them neatly in our classroom closet, to which all students have access. A few students asked if they could have the job of official pencil sharpener. Others asked if they could sharpen all the colored pencils in the supply caddies because they were all dull! The sharpener definitely got tremendous use on the first day!

Our students loved the new dry erase markers because the ones we use every day for Math dried up. The students were also excited with the laminating pouches since we can now laminate their projects and they would last forever! And they loved the colored paper and colored card stock and asked to use them right away! The thin colored markers are going to come in SO useful when the students trace their pencil writing on various projects that we hang on the bulletin board and around the class.

  • A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words!

    Funded Dec 26, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us get our "A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words!" project funded to enhance learning in all subject areas!

When the box arrived, our students were so excited to open it. At first they didn't know what to make of it! I explained to them what the Sprocket was and how we would be using it. I told them that we would be taking pictures for our Snow Globe writing, Mother's and Father's Day projects, and for the 'My Year in Third Grade" memory books that they have been working on since September. One student raised her hand and asked if I could take a picture of them individually so that they can add an author picture to the story book they were starting to write. The ideas and smiles were flowing, and everyone was so excited!

After I charged the sprocket (and figured out how to print pictures) I had all the students pose and took a group picture. I then sent the picture to the Sprocket and the students watched in awe as the picture that I just took came to life. I don't have the words to describe the joy, the amazement and the excitement. I'm hoping the pictures that I have posted show it!

This Sprocket is such an asset for the students who struggle to read, speak and understand directions by availing us the opportunity to create a visual representation. Being to label learning centers, display pictures of the various textbooks and workbooks that we utilize each day, and even to create a schedule of the day's activities with pictures is going to be a benefit in creating an inviting classroom environment!

Thank you for giving our students the opportunity to be individuals and express themselves in their own individual way! Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and for caring!”

  • Literacy + Color = Learning!

    Funded Dec 31, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us get our "Literacy + Color = Learning!" project funded, and for letting us get art supplies for our students to encourage and enhance writing and enable them to express their artistic sides!

When the boxes arrived, our students were so excited to open them. They all noticed that the largest box had the word "easel" written on it and were screaming and jumping with joy! Our students worked together to unpack all the boxes and were begging to help build the easel. They opened the paint jars, brushes and all the paints and set everything up.

The students loved the selection of Tempera paint colors and were saying that they could mix red and white to make pink! Once the easel was built, which they actually did on their own, they were all begging to paint a picture. One student stated that he could paint pictures for the book he was writing. Another said she wanted to write a color poem on the large chart paper and paint pictures all around. The ideas and smiles were flowing!

Thanks to your donations we have the necessary art supplies for them to express themselves and learn! Thank you for giving our students the opportunity to be individuals and express themselves in their own individual way!

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and for caring!”

  • Help Us Be Better Teachers!

    Funded Jan 31, 2019

Thank you SO very much for your donation and for getting my project "Help Us Be Better Teachers!" funded. The chairs with wheels will be enable us to maneuver between students to monitor learning, work in small groups and one-on-one with minimal noise.

When the packages arrived, our students couldn't wait to open the boxes and see what was inside! The students unpacked all the pieces from the box, and actually helped to put the chairs together!

Of course, once the chairs were built they all wanted to sit on them! They took turns sitting on the chair and writing their thank yous to Kate, our amazing donor. I couldn't resist but take pictures and post them so that you could see! Afterward, they brought the other chairs together in order to do group work! What an amazing sight!

The chairs have made it possible for us to create a calm, quiet and engaging environment for our students, and enable them to take an active role in learning. Every student is begging to have the chair as part of their small group work so that a teacher could sit on it and join them. It is a teacher's dream come true!

Thank you SO very much for your kindness and generosity! It is very much appreciated!”

    Funded Jan 28, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us get our "Help! We Need Supplies to Make This a Great Year!" project funded, and for letting us get the much-needed classroom supplies to keep our students actively engaged and be able to learn!

When the boxes arrived, our students were so excited to unpack all the supplies, however, the reactions were mixed. Most of our students cheered when they saw all the pencils, the erasers, the paper and the sharpener. They yelled out in joy, "Yes, we can do more writing and math now!" A few students asked if they could have the job of official pencil sharpener. Others asked if they could sharpen all the colored pencils in the supply caddies because they were all dull! The sharpener definitely got tremendous use on the first day!

Our students loved the multi-colored thin markers which they will use to trace their writing pieces for display on the bulletin boards. The students were also excited with the laminating pouches since we can now laminate their projects and they could keep them forever!

  • Help Us Create a Clean, Healthy, Germ-Free Learning Environment!

    Funded Jan 26, 2019

Thank you for helping us to create a clean, healthy, germ-free learning environment! The winter brings unwanted colds and flu to not only the students, but to the teachers as well. Learning is truly impeded with absences as a result of these illnesses.

When the boxes arrived our students were so excited to unpack all the supplies, and actually asked to clean their desks! Some students even offered to clean all the bookshelves, and the teacher desks as well! When I sprayed the Clorox orange scented on the chairs and sink, the room smelled fresh instantly and our students loved the smell!

It was amazing to see the students working together to unpack all the supplies, and store them neatly on and under the sink area. They assigned specific jobs to themselves such as soap and tissue captain, sink cleaner, Friday desk cleaners, and teacher desk cleaners.

Thanks to your donations our "stay healthy" supplies are replenished, and we are ready to ride out the winter season in a clean, healthy and germ-free environment!

Thank you for your thoughtfulness, kindness and for caring!”

  • Help Our Students Keep Calm, Stay Focused and Learn!

    Funded Jan 1, 2019

Thank you SO very much for your donations and for getting my project "Help My Students Keep Calm, Stay Focused and Learn!" funded. The chairs socks and teacher chair helped us create a calm and focused classroom environment!

When the package of chair socks arrived, our students couldn't wait to open the boxes and see what was inside! They took out the blue chair socks, and at first thought they were balls to play with. When I explained to them what they were for and demonstrated how to put them on the chair legs, they immediately put their chairs up and were anxious to put on their chair socks. It took a little work, but they are thrilled that the squeaking and scratching noise of moving chairs is gone! As are my co-teacher and me!

I do not have the words to tell you the excitement that was in the class when the teacher chair arrived. My co-teacher gave me his chair when we became a teaching team last year, and he left himself with a chair that was held together with duct tape, did not move and squeaked! This new teacher chair was a well-deserved surprise that you helped me give him!

The students unpacked all the pieces from the box, and actually helped to put the chair together! Of course, once the chair was built they all wanted to use it! They took turns sitting on the chair and brought the other chairs together in order to do group work! What an amazing sight!

The chair socks and teacher chair have made it possible for us to create a calm, quiet and engaging environment for our students by easing their sensory issues and enabling them to take an active role in learning. We have noticed an instantaneous improvement in productivity! The students are calmer and are completing their classwork! It is a teacher's dream come true!

Thank you SO very much for your kindness and generosity! It is very much appreciated!”
