  • Color Me Science!

    I must say that having a printer in our classroom has widened the scope of what we can achieve! Thank you so much for your generous support for my students. When students are completing their projects, they can print out pictures that accompany their projects. They are able to design posters, construct writing assignments, peer edit each other's work, all made a lot easier having the printed copy. The students are so excited to use the printer and they collaborate with their classmates to get their work done. Thanks again.”

  • Happy Birthday!

    The birthday materials have made such a huge impact in our classroom! Every time a student has a birthday, they receive a personalized birthday card, a birthday bracelet and a little gift. Oh the smiles this small gesture causes on my students' faces!

    When my students first saw that they get birthday prizes in Science class, they loudly and eagerly announced their birth dates so that I can prepare for them. I remember Luis came up to me and asked whether or not he gets a birthday card. I said, "Of course you do! We must celebrate your birthday!" Luis got so excited upon receiving his birthday card and his gift. Thank you for making all this possible!

    Our next classroom focus is on acquiring lab materials to reinforce what was learned in the lessons and to encourage inquiry in our Science classroom. We encourage you to share this new project with your friends. Thank you for all that you do and we hope you have a wonderful new year!”

  • Achieving the 'A' in STEAM

    My heart was filled with so much joy today! I saw my dream come true! Students were super excited about integrating more art into our Science classroom! Smiles spread across their faces when they realized they had multiple options for today's lesson, in showcasing how humans impact the earth. After learning about pollution, ozone depletion, climate change, the greenhouse effect, dead zones, etc. , students were asked to paint, draw or write how humans impact the earth, creating a model that goes along with their thoughts. I was so impressed by their motivation to show what they have learned in class! One student said to me "Ms. JD, can we do more of this for every unit?". That's when I realized how much of a difference this made to them! We are now moving on to Classification and then The Cell. I am excited about creating more opportunities like this for my students! This would not have been possible without your generous donations! My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • Can You See Me? Microscopes + Document Camera

    Thank you so much for donating to my classroom! You have helped tremendously! Students are super excited to share their work more in class. The document camera allows students to showcase their written work with the entire class. They enjoy having the spotlight and being able to present to the class. Students engage in academic discussions and offer each other feedback. Anthony, usually a student who would not volunteer unless called on, now voluntarily uses the document camera to show off his work.

    The microscopes are an added bonus in the classroom. Many times in my class, students had to share their microscopes with other classmates. Although this is still the case for some, having 4 extra microscopes allows students some independence in the inquiry phase of our cell lessons. They explore plant cells and animal tissues under the microscope. In addition, students practice changing the magnification and adjusting between the fine and course adjustment knobs. This helps to prepare students for the 8th grade state examination. I particularly like that many students do not have to wait on their partner to view their slides. By their facial expressions, I believe they feel the same way.

    My students and I cannot express the extent of our gratitude. We are delighted that you saw our need and decided to help us. You have changed the way I teach and enhanced the educational journeys of all 150 of my students. Thank you!”

I have a very diverse population of students. Despite all their differences, I find that their energy and enthusiasm for science fills the classroom each day. They are super excited to learn living environment this year. My school is a Title One school so a significant number of students come from economically disadvantaged households. I currently teach 8th grade ICT Science. My most important goal is to remind my students that they are capable of succeeding in science. It proves difficult to do this because many times, they end up sharing their supplies with such large groups, that some of them don't even get a chance to fully participate in the activity. My students will truly benefit from any help you can give. Thanks in advance.
