My students are all high school language learners focusing on English language skills in my classroom. Many of my students are refugees and recent immigrants adjusting to life and schooling in The United States. Students are motivated to succeed and value the diversity in our school. I teach 75 students throughout the day from over 20 different home countries. The mix of different languages and cultures provides a unique learning environment for students to explore cultural identity and the transition into American schools. Our neighborhood school is devoted to making all students feel welcome. When asked, students agree that the diverse environment is what they value most in our school.
