  • Moving Through Mathematics!

    Funded Aug 25, 2019

I have to admit this is the first project that I have asked for something for me, among other goodies for the class! I couldn't be more appreciative of my new smartboard presentation remote! It makes teaching using Google Slides so much easier because I don't have to be at my desk. There is no time lost on learning walking back and forth and I am able to keep my student's attention.

The wobble stools were also a welcome addition to our classroom! The kids were over the moon when we opened the boxes and use them everyday! It really helps students who need to move their bodies but it doesn't distract others. And they don't ruin the floors which is an added bonus! We couldn't be happier or any more grateful for your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rasmussen

  • Sit Where You Want!

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

On the first day of school I can remember the "Wows" that came out of the student's mouths! They were so excited to see so many choices for flexible seating. Since then, we have modeled and practiced how to use flexible seating appropriately and students have learned to make seating choices that are best for THEM!

Allowing students the opportunity for choice, makes them accountable for their own learning. We know that not all students learn in the same way. And these seating options have allowed students to learn how they learn best, and most of the time that means sprawled out on the floor in a comfy cushion or chair. Most students very rarely choose their desk. And so from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your donation and we are so thankful that we have these choices available in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rasmussen

  • We Need to WOBBLE!

    Funded Oct 2, 2018

The day that our 6 amazon boxes were delivered to our classroom was a day that my students will remember for a long time. They had been begging for wobble stools, as some of their friends in other classrooms were using them. For many weeks, I had to explain that they weren't within my budget and we had to be patient. As soon as the boxes were delivered they knew what was inside! My students now have the ability to move around in their seats while still being focused and respectful to the teacher and students around them. They make no noise and allow for the freedom of movement! These wobble stools really have changed the climate of my classroom for the better and I can't thank you all enough for supporting my love of teaching and their love of learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rasmussen

  • We are ENGAGED in Hands-On Learning!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

The day that we received our new math games and materials changed my classroom in so many ways! We now do not have to be limited to boring worksheets because we have fun games to help us learn too! Students can zoom through planets collecting coins while solving word problems at the same time. These tools are invaluable to our learning! Place value puzzles allow for students to visually see numbers represented in various ways. They can practice the skills they need with friends or with a teacher AND have fun at the same time! We have not opened some of our games because they involve math concepts that we have yet to learn. My students know that we have new games ready to open for each new skill and that makes the anticipation of learning new concepts last all year long!

Because of your donations, our classroom is better equipped now to meet the needs of ALL students and we are so grateful for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rasmussen

  • Bring on More Technology!

    Funded May 13, 2018

The day that we received our new Chromebooks changed my classroom in so many ways! We now do not have to be put on a waiting list for technology access within our building because it is at our fingertips everyday, all day long! Students have been so excited to work on research projects, using Google Docs and Google Slides. They have access to educational games that enhance literacy and math instruction. They are able to use websites such as GetEPIC and Storyline Online that allow for them to listen to books being read aloud and read book independently that without these Chromebooks would not be possible.

Many of our students do not have access to computers at home, so those students in particular LOVE being able to use the computers to work on practicing their typing skills and using websites such as Freckle Education to take online assessments that allow us to practice using technology tools that students are required to use to on MCAS state assessments.

Now that we have our own charging station, there are no worries as to whether our Chromebooks are safe and charged. We have the ability to be responsible for our own materials and the kids love to be in charge of making sure they are plugged in and locked away safely each night!

Because of your donations, our classroom is better equipped now to meet the needs of ALL students and we are so grateful for your support.”

The world we live in is now surrounded by technology. My students need to practice the skills that they will need to become successful in the real world. Adding these Chromebooks to my classroom would allow students to practice typing skills, listen to books online, play educational games that can advance their reading and mathematical skills, as well as complete research. Every student deserves the chance to be successful. Many of the students in my school do not have access to technology at home, therefore it is important that these skills are able to be taught and practiced at school.
