I will use the Chromebooks during the day to facilitate the collaborative creation of annotations, written discussions, blogs, cloud-based portfolios of poetry and writing, websites, presentations, and more. Students will use the Chromebooks during class to read, write, and view some of the most amazing works of visual and linguistic art that human beings have ever produced. They will also be able to use online applications that will further learning in specific skills and that will prepare them to compete with the country's most well tutored graduates on standardized tests such as the SAT. Student editors will also use these Chromebooks to design and publish our online creative magazine. Our school is a wonderful place because of its people, but my heart breaks every time a kid doesn't get a laptop because the shared cart has too few or because one is broken. I have taught at a high-performing private school with a one-billion-dollar endowment and oak-paneled rooms, and there is a deep contrast between the resources to which their students and my students have access. I know what some students get, and they are fortunate. My students deserve the same technological window to human thinking and action.
