A Day at Hogwarts
Funded Jan 25, 2023Thank you so much for your contributions towards our Harry Potter Literary Club. We love offering projects and activities for our members not only to help them better connect to the story, but also to exercise creativity, problem solving, and cooperation. That was our goal with these supplies and we have already been putting these supplies to good use. We are excited to implement more projects and activities with the students that are a part of our club next year!
Thank you again for your support and shared vision!”

Funded Oct 21, 2021These materials benefit our Harry Potter Club, which we started this year. To say the club has been a success is an understatement. These students have been devouring the books and other material and are begging for more meetings and activities. So far, we have read through the first three books and plan to finish up this year with Book 4. For many students, this is the most they have read and the Goblet of Fire will be the longest book any have ever read. We have already decided next year we will have two different clubs and I highly anticipate more participants!
Thank you so much for your support in spreading the love of reading and Harry Potter to the next generation!”

Funded Apr 1, 2021In the next few years, my school will be transitioning to a middle school (instead of an intermediate school), so I am working to have materials that my current and future students will enjoy. Reading and encouraging a love for reading is a huge initiative in our school district and it is a joy to see students interested in reading about the topics we discuss in class.
Throughout the school year, students have opportunities to read after completing assignments or use books to accompany assignments as a means to research. In addition, I teach a German history unit and I use so many of these books as supplemental material. I also recommend them to students who find a particular aspect of German history interesting for continued learning and reading.
Most students love the opportunity for reading in my class and many ask me if the book they pick or start is available in the school library for them to check out and take home. Unfortunately, I can't offer a check out program since I serve all 650 students in our building. However, I love seeing them go to the library and check out books that pertain to German or Germany! They are always eager to share and discuss what they have read!
Thank you so much for your patronage in growing my library, which strengthens a love of reading, culture and language! My classroom would not have the success it does without your donation and care.”

Culture Collectors
Funded Dec 2, 2020I want to deeply thank you for your support and generosity. My students and classroom greatly appreciate the new material. The more materials they have access to the better. I am especially grateful for the books in Spanish. Each year, I get more students who have little knowledge of English but are such enthusiastic learners. It has been wonderful having options for them to read to gain more understanding and to work on culture projects. Thank you for your hand in increasing language and culture interest in my classroom for all of my students!”

Funded May 5, 2020My students have been so excited about the new books we received for my classroom. With Covid going on, it is so helpful to have more material that students can use now that we have a waiting period before another student can use the book. Books are a fabulous way for students to connect what we are learning in German to the culture featured in so many of these books. Culture is a wonderful motivator in the world language classroom. Books are one of the most effective ways to maintain and gain interest in the language. We greatly appreciate your donation and support. Thank you!”

Fun and Fidget Activity Carts
Funded Dec 27, 2019Our students are so grateful and appreciative of your generosity. As teachers, it is great to see our students using their morning time to problem solve, create and interact in a quietly with one another as they wait for the school day to begin. When our students say the carts we have created to house of these fabulous manipulatives, they were ecstatic. Many of our students do not have access to these materials and it is wonderful that we have given them a chance to use them. Having these activities on the hallway has given students something to look forward to when they come into school and it has helped to cut down on behavior issues during this time.
Thank you for your support and generosity!”

Funded May 14, 2019Thank you so much for your donations! At my school, I do not receive any textbooks or supplemental material, therefore, filling a classroom with rich and authentic materials has taken some time. Your donations have helped to create a large classroom library filled with books about different German-speaking countries and areas of culture. By having texts and materials, students are able to choose something they are interested in. I use the materials to supplement my lessons and provide visuals to my students.
We have a research-based culture project coming up with my 6th graders and these books and materials will be tremendous in providing information and giving them visuals. Students get to select different aspects of culture that they are interested in so having ample materials for them to choose from is huge! The puzzles are something we assemble to show off German architecture and castles.
This year, I have students who come by my room and pick up books at the beginning of the day to read in their homeroom classes during silent reading time. It is great that our students have not only embraced reading, but they have also taken to learning more about Germany and German culture!
Thank you so much for your help in creating a literacy-rich classroom!”
