  • Providing realistic experiences in Chemistry and Forensics

    Funded Mar 6, 2023

    Students were able to use the synthetic blood to test for blood alcohol concentration and to investigate how forensic scientists study blood spatter in crime scenes. Students were also able to use ink pads to study their own fingerprint patterns and identify each pattern based on the current fingerprint classification.

    Students enjoyed investigating real world practices that gave them a real sense of what is expected of a forensic scientist. They also enjoyed visualizing and analyzing their own fingerprints.”

  • Physical & Digital Molecular Models

    Funded Sep 18, 2022

    Students were able to use the physical molecular models to build molecules and were able to visualize their structures. Using the digital component, students were able to see how molecules interact with their surrounding and learned basic information regarding the molecules they built.

    Students were very engaged during the building process and the digitizing process. They worked in collaborative groups to figure out how to build the models and how to apply the concepts of molecular bonding learned in class.

    Using the molecular models, students predicted how elements bond to form molecules and what rules govern the bonding process.”
