I work in a substantially separate classroom that focuses primarily on severe speech and language delays. The students are kindergarten and first graders and range in the ages of 5 to 7.
All of my students have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and as their classroom teacher I am responsible for the instruction and implementation of grade level content and materials. With the materials that I have I do my best to differentiate instruction to meet each child's individual needs.
As their teacher, my responsibilities include modeling and facilitating appropriate social skills.
I also try to provide my students with as many new experiences as possible. I believe in teaching my students that we are a family, a classroom family and we belong to the school community. It is important to remember to be safe, kind, respectful, and responsible with our family and our community.
